NEWS - Orange Is The New B...inge!

Netflix and chill — and repeat? “Orange Is the New Black” is one of the streamer’s most rewatched original series, with 53% of the prison dramedy’s fans having gone back to at least one of the first three seasons, according to a Netflix-commissioned survey. Season 4 of “Orange Is the New Black” debuted Friday in Netflix’s 190-plus markets worldwide. The show, produced by Lionsgate TV, has been renewed for three additional seasons with showrunner Jenji Kohan committed for seasons 5, 6 and 7. The survey, conducted by Google from June 2-10, polled 1,613 responses among Netflix subscribers in the U.S., Mexico, Canada and the U.K. Respondents were required to confirm their intent to watch season 4 of “OITNB” to participate.
Netflix didn’t reveal how “OITNB” compares with other original or licensed TV series on the service vis-a-vis rewatch rates. But it says the prison dramedy is among its most “devoured” shows by binge-watchers, with viewers typically consuming an entire 13-episode season in four days in 2.5 hours per session.
According to Netflix, viewers prefer to rewatch the final three episodes of a season of “OITNB” but the No. 1 most revisited one is season 1, episode 1 (“I wasn’t ready”), when Piper Chapman finds herself on the way to Litchfield prison for an old drug-running offense.
In the last three years, “Orange Is the New Black” rewatching has reached its peak in June, ahead of the next season’s release. Of viewers polled, 21% said they plan to rewatch the previous season while 41% plan to rewatch all 36 prior episodes. The survey found “OITNB” viewers are willing to give up making their bed (30%), cleaning the house (36%) and cooking (10%) to have more time to binge.
Top reasons cited by “OITNB” fans for rewatching past seasons include sleuthing for possible foreshadowing in previous storylines (25%) and reliving moments with favorite characters (29%). Another 25% simply said that it’s their favorite show.
NEWS - Spazio, ultima frontiera visiva!

It’s easy to cynical about virtual reality until you actually give it a try. Sure, you look like an idiot when you have one of those headsets on, but when you’re engaging with the right material, the experience can be breathtaking. It’s not going to replace traditional gaming and it certainly won’t change the way we watch movies, but it’s a fascinating new medium and a thrilling way to experience stories. As expected, this year’s E3 conference hasn’t been shy about teasing upcoming VR experiences and the next step for game developers and publishers is pretty clear. The faithful and the adventurous gamers are in the bag for this technology, so how do you go about convincing normal people to give this stuff a chance? The answer may lie in making games based on already beloved universes and characters, as new VR games based on Star Trek, Star Wars, Batman are on the way.

Let’s take a look at these in order of how much the trailers actually reveal, shall we? First up is Star Trek: Bridge Crew, a game that uses VR headsets to create a game that actually looks and feels like a proper Star Trek experience. There have been plenty of Trek game before, but they have been predominately shooters and straightforward action games, traditional experiences that just-so-happen to feature characters from whatever movie or television show was recently released.
But as the title of Star Trek: Bridge Crew implies, the game plants you on the bridge of a Federation starship, gives you a specific job (captain, engineer, helmsman, etc) and forces you to work in tandem with other players to control the ship, navigate sticky situations, and battle enemies. There is no straightforward shooting, just teamwork and coordination and overextending yourself to keep your ship intact and the crew alive. The game still looks like it needs a little work (some of the animations are a little rough and the character models a little dull), but the whole thing appears conceptually sound.

Norman Reedus is not a meal. This is something the lurching hordes of zombies on The Walking Dead disagree with and the same can be said for select crazed fans of the AMC program. That said, he can help those with hunger pangs. Said help doesn’t involve riding a motorcycle across America flinging pizzas through people’s windows, but fans will likely dig what he has in store anyway.
The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that Reedus and Walking Dead director/producer/effects marvel Greg Nicotero will be opening a restaurant in Senoia, Georgia. The location is a natural fit because the show films in the area and why shouldn’t Senoia, Georgia have celebrity restauranteurs serving meals in their town? (Aside from Zac Brown having to close up shop there.) There’s no law against it, plus merchandise for the joint is already done up.
Full points awarded for the sensible restaurant name. It hasn’t been revealed what type of cuisine will be served at the eatery, but that puzzle will likely be sorted out when they open sometime this summer. Any menu suggestions? Share your thoughts in the comments.

Netflix and the CW are close to finalizing a megabucks new deal covering scripted series that significantly speeds up the availability of the shows to less than two weeks after each season ends on the network.
The expanded pact with Netflix comes as CW and Hulu are parting ways on the deal that made selected current episodes of CW series available for streaming on a rolling-five basis. CW first set its streaming deals with Netflix and Hulu in 2011. Those deals were crucial to shoring up the future of CW five years ago, and now the expanded Netflix pact is a testament to the network’s improved performance.
With the Hulu deal ending, in-season streaming access to CW series will flow through the advertising-supported CWTV.com website and app as well as its affiliate stations’ VOD deals with various MVPD providers. In-season access will remain limited to a rolling-five most recent episodes, in most cases.
Reps for CW, Hulu and Netflix declined comment. The CW-Netflix deal is expected to be unveiled later this week.
The limited access to episodes was the big sticking point for Hulu, which is said to have pushed CW to offer full stacking rights on its Hulu service as a condition of renewing the deal. Hulu and CW parent companies CBS and Warner Bros. negotiated on and off for months but late last week the sides formally ended the discussions. The existing deal is believed to expire in early October.
Netflix, meanwhile, has stepped up the financial terms of its output deal in order to speed up the arrival of the shows on the SVOD giant. Previously, CW series came to Netflix after a months-long wait, usually timed to land a week or two before the start of a new season for continuing series.
The total pricetag of the deal is tricky to estimate for Netflix because it involves so many shows and variables such as escalators that kick in depending on how long a series has been on the air and how it performs. But it is sure to rank as one of the largest output deals in the SVOD arena to date with value that could exceed $1 billion. The deal is believed to run five years, with a tail that gives Netflix access to the CW library for several years after each series ends its run on the network. The deal covers domestic rights to the shows, not the vast expanse of Netflix’s worldwide footprint.
The deal also marks the closest window Netflix has ever secured to the in-season period for primetime entertainment series, and less than a year after CEOs of several media conglomerates publicly indicated they were going to toughen their licensing strategies with subscription VOD services that were arguably cannibalizing linear ratings. “We are evaluating whether to retain our rights for a longer period of time and forego or delay certain content licensing,” Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes told investors on an earnings call last November.
That said, the CW-Netflix pact may end up an outlier to an otherwise increasingly conservative next wave of licensing deals between streaming services and conglomerates, many of whom are focusing more on their own streaming extensions.
CBS Corp. and Warner Bros., which produce the vast majority of CW’s primetime series, led the negotiations. The CW’s studio partners came back to the table this time around with a stronger hand compared to five years ago, thanks to CW’s growth under president Mark Pedowitz. Netflix’s willingness to step up for earlier post-season access to the shows reflects the sizzle CW has generated with its fleet of DC Comics-branded superhero shows, notably “The Flash” and “Arrow,” and buzzy critical darlings “Jane the Virgin” and “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.”
From Hulu’s perspective, however, the CW in-season rights were not worth the pricetag to renew unless it came with stacking rights to all episodes — something that surely would have been a non-starter for CW and Netflix. From Hulu’s perspective, sources said, the vast majority of viewing was delivered only by CW’s two highest-rated shows: “The Flash” and “Arrow.” Moreover, fans of those two shows frequently lodge complaints with Hulu about the limited five-episode selection.
With Hulu bowing out, CW now has a stronger pitch to make to its broadcast affiliates about maintaining exclusivity of access to in-season streaming rights. The hope is that the tightened availability will boost streaming viewership via the CW’s website, which in turn could bring in more advertising revenue.
CW’s move to finalize the course for its streaming distribution for the next few years comes weeks after the network finalized a new five-year affiliation pact with its core Tribune Broadcasting station group.
Hulu’s strategic focus remains on being the hub for next-day access to current series from its partner networks Fox, NBC and ABC, in addition to its output pacts with FX and AMC Networks, Epix movie deal and off-network acquisitions including the “Seinfeld” library.
Hulu is also in the midst of a push to become a virtual MVPD by offering a skinny bundle of channels via OTT distribution.

Lady Gaga of “American Horror Story: Hotel” and Jamie Lee Curtis of “Scream Queens” are arguably some of the most famous new faces on TV. But fame isn’t all it’s cracked up to be — at least not for Curtis, who told Gaga during their conversation for the fourth season of Variety and PBS’ “Actors on Actors” series, that it’s “isolating”. The duo also discussed Curtis’ blockbuster film “True Lies,” “The Jinx” and working with “American Horror Story” creator Ryan Murphy.

GOSSIP - Doccia bollente! Shay Mitchell di "PLL" sotto gli spruzzi con Nick Jonas nel di lui video "Under You"
Nick Jonas will never get over Shay Mitchell – not after their steamy “Under You” music video. After teasing fans with footage of his hot-and-heavy affair with the Pretty Little Liars star, Jonas dropped the full video on Tidal Friday.
“You know I couldn’t drop a new album without a new video too,” Jonas wrote on Instagram to mark the release. The “Under You” video shows the singer driving through the rain to see Mitchell before angrily trashing her room. The two then have a tantalizing make-up session in the shower.
Mitchell told Teen Vogue she came off a stunt-heavy shoot for Pretty Little Liars shortly before filming the music video. “They had to keep coming into the shower to cover up the bruises because I was bruised all over,” she said. “So I go from Emily, to, you know, Nick’s girl in this video.”
The video for “Under You,” off of Jonas’ album Last Year Was Complicated, is available now to watch on Tidal.

That long-promised Battlestar Galactica movie is taking a big step towards finally happening. Universal confirmed today via Variety that the writer of HBO’s Westworld, Lisa Joy, has been selected to pen the script for the upcoming big-screen adaptation of the acclaimed sci-fi franchise. And while it hasn’t been made official yet, the rumor is that they’re eyeing Francis Lawrence, director of the controversial Constantine film and decidedly less-controversial Hunger Games films, to direct.
Battlestar debuted on television in 1978 and spawned countless spinoffs across various mediums, including books, television, comics, and more. However, its recent popularity is largely due to the 2004 reboot of the show, one of the first great explicitly post-9/11 American television shows. Eschewing the original’s camp for intense political drama and philosophical commentary on what it means to be human, the show enjoyed a four-season run and critical acclaim, even if its finale ended up proving to be one of the most polarizing last episodes of all time.
X-Men franchise director Bryan Singer had been attached to direct the film previously, but is no longer associated with the production. Given the recent reception of his latest film, X-Men: Apocalypse, this could be a good thing. Lawrence’s Hunger Games films (he directed all but the first in the series) are critically acclaimed, especially the second installment, Catching Fire. With solid experience in directing dystopian science fiction, Lawrence will likely be a great fit for Battlestar‘s big franchise debut when it finally arrives.

E ha potuto aggiungere alla propria playlist: Aquarius, American Horror Story, The Walking Dead, Homeland, Falling Skies, Blacklist, House of Cards, Teen Wolf. Cosa bolle in pentola?

Possibile  sede in Germania (meno tasse)

Lexa era un personaggio chiave, fatto sparire di scena come è accaduto nel tempo a storici protagonisti paladini dei diritti arcobaleno: Marissa (Mischa Barton) in The O.C., Tara (Amber Benson) in Buffy l’ammazzavampiri, Tricia (Madeline Brewer) in Orange Is the New Black, Denise (Merritt Wever) in The Walking Dead.

Figuriamoci i diavoli.
Prima zombie, poi demoni. Dopo "Outcast" arriveranno i vampiri?
"(ride) Non lo so.

Maisie Williams leaps up into the air in these fun inside images from her May 2016 cover on Nylon magazine. The 18-year-old Game of Thrones actress covers the Young Hollywood issue, and opens up about her fears about Hollywood, her boyfriend and more. Check it:
On her fears around Hollywood: “Honestly, this industry frightens me—it scares me seeing people who are evil…No, not evil. But seeing people change. Seeing what this industry has done to me, and then having to pull it? all back again. I am very happy with who I am, and people always say, ‘Don’t change,’ but no one ever intentionally changes. It is frightening.”
On not labeling her sexuality: “I’ve never sat up and thought about my sexuality for hours. It’s like what Shailene Woodley said: ‘I fall in love with personalities and not people or genders.’ I have no problem with anyone who would want to be labeled, but I also think that it is no one’s business.”
On her boyfriend: “I have a boyfriend. I met him at school. He’s really sweet…I feel like I’m in love right now, but I don’t know what I am going to feel like down the line. That’s why I am kind of closed-minded about marriage—I don’t even know if I want to get married”.

GOSSIP - Lexa a puntino!

On how she memorises a script…
“You don’t really learn them as a full script. Usually with something like The 100, because you’re working so much and everyday and they’ll change the drafts quite quickly, we’ll go through maybe like 12 different versions of the same scene over a week. So there is no point in learning it on a Tuesday when on a Thursday it might be completely different. So your best bet is to learn it Wednesday night, however that’s when the process as an actor comes in to play, by doing the work beforehand, so if you’ve got the weekend off you go through the script and cut it out, dissect out, and figure out what you’re actually really doing, so that when it comes to learning it’s easier. My short-term memory has gotten so much better but it means I forget things a lot quicker!”
On how it compares to working on a film…
“Film is a lot different. You have the whole script in its entirety and you have a couple of weeks to learn different scenes, really go over them and rehearse them so when you get to them they’re more fleshed out. But TV shows are harder.”
On the long hours…
“They are very, very very long. It’s not always the working itself but the travel time and getting ready. Once you add all that on it’s a lot longer but then if you go over time by half an hour or an hour, you can find yourself having worked for 15 hours. A 12 hour day is standard, but once it adds up you’re exhausted.”
On differences between working on The 100 versus Fear the Walking Dead…
The Hundred gave me this platform I never expected. I didn’t expect the character to become anything. I was originally only signed up to do six episodes and then it just sort of become this whole story and journey which was an amazing character, a great journey so that has been incredible and I didn’t expect anything out of it. Fear the Walking Dead has been amazing though because I’ve been there from the beginning and that’s a whole different sense of familiarity and family and connection with people.
On whether she watches any of her television shows…
“No, never! I’ve always been on a plane. There was actually one time where I was doing bits and pieces for both shows so I was flying back from LA to Vancouver every where. The 100 is in Vancouver.”
On whether or not she knows what’s happening to her characters…
“You just don’t sometimes!”

“So, what do you do for a living?”.
It’s a question you get on first dates, during lunch breaks, at the doctor’s office. I heard it earlier this week, while waiting in line for a drink. “I create #content” was too sarcastic of an answer, so I went with, “I write about television.” The response, especially lately, usually goes one of two ways: “Tell me a show I should be watching” (my current answer is You’re the Worst or BoJack Horseman, because I love making people laugh, then depressing the hell out of them), or, “I’ve been watching Game of Thrones, and…” It’s never “I’m watching The Big Bang Theory, and…” (I’d probably walk away), or “I’m watching House of Cards, and…” It’s almost always Game of Thrones, because Game of Thrones is the only show everyone watches.
Okay, that’s not literally true — “The Door” was “only” seen by 7.89 million people, although that’s the highest non-premiere or –finale episode in the show’s history — but it sure seems like it. Look at the way the Hodor reveal took over Twitter, and Facebook, and the whole internet. It even permeated into scary real life. I got the “What do you do for a living?” question from a bartender, who after I gave my answer, went down the “show I should be watching” route. I replied, and, completely unprompted, he asked me, “Do you watch Game of Thrones?” I do. “I don’t, not since season one. I don’t have the time. But I heard something big happened last night.” We then spent the next five minutes talking about a series he hadn’t seen in five years. (Don’t worry, there was no one waiting for a drink behind me.) There is no other show on right now that dominates small talk like Game of Thrones.
Back in the 1990s, this wasn’t the case. Friends, Seinfeld, E.R. — these were the water cooler shows, the ones that Gary from marketing and Linda from shipping and receiving, and a staggering 25 million other people, would come into the office the next day quoting. (It was even more dramatic in the 1970s. All in the Family averaged 34 million viewers in 1971-72 — there were only 207 million people living in the U.S.) Eventually, these conversations moved online, with some exceptions. Lost was a dream come true for your cubicle mate, and a nightmare for you, who had to listen to her insane theories. Breaking Bad was a critical darling that turned into a national sensation. Mad Men and The Sopranos inspired cocktail parties and raucous Italian dinners, thrown by people who misinterpreted Mad Men and The Sopranos. But all those shows are now gone, as is the idea of a “water cooler show.”
Here’s Boardwalk Empire‘s Terence Winter, speaking to the New York Times:
It always blows my mind when you think of the water cooler moments of our childhood, where everybody knows the same reference, say, in All In the Family or I Love Lucy and The Honeymooners. Literally, you can count on every adult of that era understanding what, “Pow, right in the kisser,” means. Now, because of the niche quality viewing, you’ve got, at least on cable shows, a much smaller amount of people who don’t have that. It’s going to be interesting to see 40 years from now if there’s going to be little groups of people who know references to certain shows; whereas before, everyone knew the same songs, the same jokes, the same routines.
The one exception: Game of Thrones. It commands next-day conversations, it gives people who otherwise have nothing in common something to dissect, and it’s just about the only show most people watch the night it airs (largely for fear of spoilers). That’s an impressive feat, considering DVRs, streaming services, and DVDs and Blu-rays have effectively destroyed the communal experience of watching “live” TV. I don’t worry about having 10 episodes of New Girl on my DVR, because I know people have 12 episodes on theirs. Time slots barely matter anymore. This is not a bad thing. Do you want to go back to a time when you had to leave a party early to catch an all-new Friends? But it’s still nice that one “must get home” show exists.

Why Game of Thrones, though, and not, say, The Walking Dead? AMC’s zombie series is the biggest thing on television. It surely has to count. Well, yes and no. It’s extremely popular, but, based on conversations I’ve had with friends and strangers alike, it seems like a lot of people, including Alan Sepinwall, have quit The Walking Dead. And that was before the Negan cliffhanger. It’s too slow, it’s too boring, nothing ever happens. These are all common complaints, most of which I disagree with. But the reason The Walking Dead doesn’t count as a small talk show is because there’s really nothing to talk about. The fun of watching Game of Thrones is guessing where the show is going, wondering who’s going to end up on the Iron Throne, or debating whether the writers “should have done that.” (Okay, the extracurricular controversies aren’t exactly “fun,” but they do provide fodder for think pieces and podcast arguments.) It’s tougher to come up with Walking Dead theories, outside of, “I think [blank] was killed by Negan. Here’s why.” The whole point of the series is that there is no point — the characters aren’t looking for a cure; they’re just going to keep killing walkers until AMC says no more.
As for other potential small talk shows:
–House of Cards, Orange Is the New Black, and Daredevil, while occasionally thrilling, are all on Netflix, meaning you can watch them at your pace. It could take months. Which reminds me, I need to finish Daredevil season two…
–Mr. Robot, The Americans, Rectify, and Fargo are four of the best shows on television. They’re also only watched by the small number of people who regularly tweet about how they’re four of the best shows on television.
–Better Call Saul is set in the same universe as Breaking Bad, but it doesn’t have the same sense of urgency. Plus, the tone’s more comedic, and unlike Walter White, who fans were torn on whether he should live or die in the finale, we know Saul Goodman, er, Jimmy McGill makes it.
–True Detective was a “small talk” show in season one. It was a disaster in season two. (Homeland also lost a lot of its cache since season one.)
–Fear the Walking Dead? Yeah, no.
Game of Thrones is really the only show that fits every criteria — it’s like No One/Arya’s list, when (not if, but when) she kills Cersei, Gregor, and Walder Frey. Is it popular? Check. Do viewers watch it live? Check. Do people have loud opinions about it? Check. Does it beg for theories? Check. Is there outside text for fans to annoyingly say, “Well, in the books…”? Check. Is it immediately quotable, so that the guy who still occasionally breaks out a “my wife” can update his material with “I drink, and I know things”? Check.
We’re more engaged with television than ever, but that engagement takes place on social media, or in comment sections, not in real life. There’s simply too much TV (#TooMuchTV) for everyone to keep up with everything worth keeping up on. But for 10 weeks of the year, on Sunday nights at 9 p.m. EST, millions of TVs and laptops are tuned to HBO or HBO Go. Game of Thrones is a show obsessed with death, but it’s keeping TV small talk alive.

NEWS - Rivoluzione, compagni!

Come cambieranno i numeri?
