Mandy Moore is looking smokin’ on the cover of Cosmopolitan magazine’s March 2018 issue.

On how she’d describe her This Is Us co-stars with one word:

·Justin Hartley: Magnificent (+ tall + utterly handsome)
On This Is Us: “Before I got the part, I was making massive changes in my personal life and was looking to echo that in my work. I was waiting for something different that would allow me to dig deep. I knew I was capable, but I couldn’t get any momentum, and I had just been crushed by three failed pilot seasons. When I read the script for This Is Us, I told my agent, “I will do absolutely anything to be a part of this.””

On the current climate in Hollywood: “We’re having a real cultural reckoning—one that’s definitely past due. Men have been using their positions of power to take advantage of women, and it’s so prevalent…I can only hope that what’s happening encourages more women [to speak out] and it serves to put women in more powerful positions across the spectrum and in entertainment specifically…as studio heads, directors, writers, and produces. The cast of NBC’s This Is Us is on the cover of the latest issue of The Hollywood Reporter, out on newsstands now. Here’s what the show’s creator Dan Fogelman had to say:
On why This Is Us works for Trump’s America: “In a time when you cringe every time you open your internet browser or get a news alert on your phone, it’s refreshing for people to turn on a show where the message is inherently positive. The characters may be flawed, and sometimes deeply flawed, but they are inherently good.” 

On long-term plans for Kate’s weight loss journey: “Thus far, the plan we had for the character and what Chrissy’s been doing have been working in tandem, with a talk once a year of, like, ‘Hey, here’s what we’re thinking.’ So we have a general long-term plan that we’ve all talked about, and we will adjust the plan as needed. I mean, that’s life, right?” 

On his “doughier” original plans for Jack before casting Milo Ventimiglia – and that butt scene, which was meant to be funny: “I didn’t imagine that that was going to be a thing that would blow up the internet. I joke about it a lot, but really, my initial conception of that character was that different.”

E' successo martedì e per la televisione americana si tratta di una piccola rivoluzione. The Big Bang Theory, la serie di Cbs che regnava incontrastata nella fascia di età che conta, quella tra i 18 e i 49 anni, è stata battuta da This Is Us, drammone che va in onda sul canale in chiaro Nbc e da noi su Fox Life. Con ascolti stabilmente sopra gli otto milioni di spettatori (dati Nielsen Media Research) che in alcuni casi arrivano a 14 se si considera la visione della replica del giorno dopo, This Is Us non ha niente di quello che le serie rivali offrono al pubblico e si regge solo sui buoni sentimenti e sulla storia dei tre fratelli Pearson. Kate (Chrissy Metz) insicura a causa dei problemi di peso di cui soffre fin da bambina; Kevin (Justin Hartley) il bello di famiglia, fa l'attore ma ha gigantesche pecche in tema di autostima; Randall (Sterling K. Brown, già visto in The People vs OJ Simpson: American Crime Story) afroamericano adottato e quindi con problemi di identità che in età adulta va alla ricerca del padre biologico malato di cancro. Uno dei segreti della serie è che si muove su due piani temporali: quello attuale, con i tre fratelli adulti, e quello del passato, quando i tre erano bambini e dove i protagonisti sono i loro genitori, Rebecca e Jack, rispettivamente interpretati da Mandy Moore e Milo Ventimiglia. «Non ci sono al momento in televisione molti show con protagonisti esseri umani buoni che si comportano in modo decente», ha commentato Dan Fogelman, creatore della serie. Certo, questo non è il primo dramma famigliare a essere trasmesso in televisione, ma quello che fa la differenza è anche il contesto storico. Quella che esce da This Is Us è l'America buona, inclusiva, interrazziale, generosa, esattamente l'opposto dell'America da carneficina, spaventata, arrabbiata e chiusa in se stessa che racconta il Presidente Donald Trump. «La gente è stanca di avere un atteggiamento cinico nei confronti della vita - continua Fogelman -. Credo che a molte persone piaccia che si ricordi loro quello che di buono c'è nel prossimo. Abbiamo visto abbastanza quanto di malvagio ci può essere negli essere umani». Tra lacrime e buoni sentimenti This Is Us è qui per ricordarci che la resistenza agli anni bui può passare anche dalla televisione.
