Lifetime is developing a televison remake of FameEW has confirmed, with writer and executive producer Josh Safran (Smash). The network bought a script for the project, a re-imagining of the original 1980 movie and the 1982 spin-off TV series – which lasted for six seasons and 136 episodes. Fame focuses on a group of adults trying to balance the high pressures of a performing arts college with the struggles of their personal lives. (Fame last entered the pop culture space with a 2009 remake.). Safran, American Idol executive producer Nigel Lythgoe, Chad Gutstein, and Charles Segars will executive produce the potential show alongside MGM and A+E Studios.
