"Ai confini della realtà" rivisto e corretto
"'Un penny per i tuoi pensieri'. Era un episodio della serie "Ai confini della realtà", andato in onda sulla Cbs nel 1961. La serie originaria era firmata e introdotta da Rod Serling, la parola showrunner ancora non esisteva. Imitata e aggiornata molte volte, anche nel film diretto da Joe Dante nel 1983. Nella serie televisiva del 2002 il narratore era Forrest Whitaker. Nell'ultima - ribattezzata "reboot", ovvero "nuovo inizio", ora usa così - il narratore è Jordan Peele di "Noi". Non l'abbiamo ancora vista, la venerazione che abbiamo per "The Twilight Zone" ha vinto sull'amore che portiamo a Jordan Peele (comunque la Cbs ha già ordinato una seconda stagione). "Un penny per i tuoi pensieri" parte da una moneta che invece di ricadere su una delle due facce ("testa o croce?") rimane in bilico. Da quel momento l'impiegato di banca Mr Poole sente i pensieri della gente attorno a lui, pronunciati con voce forte e chiara. Il capoufficio sposato che organizza il fine settimana con l'amante, il cliente che chiede un prestito per giocarselo alle corse e rimettere in cassa i soldi sottratti alla ditta, il collega che progetta una rapina alla propria banca. Dopo una serie di disastri, Mr Poole capisce che non sempre le persone fanno quel che pensano, e neppure pensano quel che faranno - con buona pace di film tratti da Philip Dick come lo spielberghiano "Minority Report": bisogna arrestare i criminali prima che commettano i delitti, non quando li hanno commessi. Dice tutto quel che gli passa per la testa Ricky Gervais in "After Life", miniserie - "miniserie finora", bisogna sempre precisarlo alla maniera di Homer Simpson - da lui scritta, interpretata e prodotta (su Netflix). Lo ha deciso dopo la morte della moglie Lisa, che bontà sua lo trovava "inetto e adorabile", e gli ha lasciato un video con consigli e incoraggiamenti del tipo "fai mangiare il cane due volte al giorno, metti i piatti sporchi subito nella lavastoviglie sennò si incrostano". Le crediamo sulla parola, quel che vediamo della loro vita coniugale è lui che la sveglia mentre dorme, o la distrae quando dipinge, con la pallina di gomma del cane. Ricky Gervais è arrabbiato, molto arrabbiato. Ed è triste, molto triste. Come il vedovo Jim Carrey nella miniserie "Kidding" diretta da Michel Gondry. Di mestiere fa un programma tv per bambini, mentre Ricky Gervais lavora in un giornale locale gratuito, dove un vecchietto che ha ricevuto cinque cartoline di compleanno identiche è materia da prima pagina. Nel disastroso accoppiamento di ognuno con il proprio lavoro sta metà dell'una e dell'altra serie. L'altra metà riguarda l'elaborazione del lutto: tema doloroso e degnissimo, con sfumature di grottesco - Ricky Gervais sta nel bagno con una lametta in mano, il cane entra per giocare. Jim Carrey è molto più bravo: ha un più forte senso dello spettacolo e sa giocare meglio con i contrasti. Netflix ha lasciato a Mr Gervais le briglie lunghe - come rifiutare qualcosa all'attore, autore, regista di "The Office"? - e il risultato non è brillante. Dovrebbe avere il ritmo della sit-com (oppure, a scelta, fornire personaggi e non macchiette). Invece Ricky Gervais fa sparire chiunque possa metterlo in ombra, non è così che si costruiscono le serie appassionanti. Ci siamo segnati soltanto lo psicoanalista che invece di sbadigliare classicamente mentre il paziente parla litiga su twitter. E la vecchietta che chiacchiera con il marito morto, e teme la pazzia. Tutto è serialità. Siamo invasi, affascinati, sedotti e(alla fine della serie) abbandonati. Totalmente immersi in un processo di creatività e narrazione audiovisiva che sembra ogni cosa sfiorare e ogni cosa reinventare. In principio furono gli sceneggiati televisivi, poi giunse l'epopea infinita delle soap opera, le generazionali sit-com fino ad arrivare al nostro contemporaneo dove il processo seriale è di grande forza e diffusione, tanto da influenzare perfino il cinema. «I linguaggi utilizzati sono all'insegnadiunapotente innovazione. E la costruzione dell'immaginario seriale è magico intreccio: televisivi e post-televisivi siamo intinti in un cortocircuito inesauribile di trame, visioni, azzardo», spiega Alfonso Amendola. Il prof di Sociologia degli audiovisivi sperimentali all'università di Salerno è l'anima, con Linda Barone e Maurizio Calbi, del convegno internazionale, promosso da Unknown Pleasures, «To be continued. Il dispositivo seriale tra narrazioni, linguaggi, traduzioni e consumi» in agenda da oggi a domani (10-18) al Campus di Fisciano. Per molti la vera dimensione seriale ha inizio con «Ai confini della realtà» per altri con «Star Trek». Quel che è evidente è che ogni serie è storia a sé. Dal circuito spazio-temporale di «Lost» all'effetto nostalgia di «Stranger things»; dal visionario «Westworld» all'epico «Trono di spade». E, ancora, i medical drama, le commedie, lo straordinario capitolo made in Italy di «Boris», «Romanzo criminale», «Gomorra» e «The Young Pope». Nella cultura seriale c'è ditutto di più, in una riuscita miscela di tradizione, sperimentazione, innovazione e convenzionalità. Ne parleranno 30 relatori, riflettendo anche sul radicale cambiamento socio-culturale in atto, le nuove professionalità, le problematiche legate alla linguistica, le dinamiche di ricezione, il rapporto tra autorialità e consumo di massa. Lectio magistralis di Jordi Ballo (università Pompeu Fabra di Barcellona) e Douglas Lanier (università del New Hampshire) sulla centralità di William Shakespeare nel fiabesco seriale contemporaneo.

Rolling Stone is out, with the magazine’s list of “The 100 Greatest TV Shows of All Time” on the cover. (No. 1? Hardly a spoiler alert needed – it’s HBO’s “The Sopranos”). 

It’s not an easy task, even though Rolling Stone helpfully supplied a long list of potential candidates, sorted by decade, to help jog the memory.The final results, which included input from the magazine’s staff, have been intelligently corralled and summarized by Rob Sheffield, Rolling Stone’s TV critic and in-house pop culture guru. The list contains a few surprises and, naturally, some choices that could be eternally quibbled over. The whole list is worth a read. After “The Sopranos,” the rest of their Top 10 goes like this: (2) “The Wire”; (3) “Breaking Bad”; (4) “Mad Men”; (5) “Seinfeld”; (6) “The Simpsons"; (7) “The Twilight Zone”; (8) “Saturday Night Live”; (9) “All in the Family”; and (10) “The Daily Show”.

Los Angeles and New York – Recognizing the essential role that writers have played in creating and elevating the medium of television since its inception, the Writers Guild of America, West (WGAW) and the Writers Guild of America, East (WGAE) tonight announced the list of the 101 Best Written TV Series, honoring seven decades of outstanding television programming and the writers who brought it all to life. The list was determined through online voting by WGAW and WGAE members. A follow-up to the WGA’s 101 Greatest Screenplays (2006), the “TV 101” list honors classic, trailblazing series and miniseries, as well as current and critically acclaimed programs, from comedies and dramas to variety/talk and children’s programming. “At their core, all of these wonderful series began with the words of the writers who created them and were sustained by the writers who joined their staffs or worked on individual episodes,” said WGAW President Chris Keyser and WGAE President Michael Winship in a joint statement. “This list is not only a tribute to great TV, it is a dedication to all writers who devote their hearts and minds to advancing their craft.”

All genres of scripted series were eligible for consideration, including animation, children’s, comedy, daytime/serial, drama, scripted anthologies, miniseries with six hours or more of programming, and variety/talk series. Series must have been written in English, have aired in the U.S., and featured onscreen writing credits. (Individual episodes, specials, non-serialized or individual programs including telefilms/movies-of-the-week, and miniseries with less than six hours of programming, were not eligible.)

NEWS - Da stasera tutti davanti alla tv (anche perchè da dietro non si vede niente)! Sat 2000 racconta i telefilm dalle origini ad oggi, anteprime comprese

Un’occasione per ricordare la tv del passato, ma anche per riflettere sul presente e sul futuro del piccolo schermo: da lunedì 16 luglio parte “Il Grande Talk – Oggi”, nuovo appuntamento quotidiano su Sat2000, che da lunedì a venerdì accompagnerà i telespettatori per tutta l’estate, con due repliche alle 17.30 e alle 22.00. Pensato e realizzato dallo staff del "Grande Talk", il programma sarà sempre condotto da Alessandro Zaccuri e da Mirella Poggialini, e ogni giorno presenterà tre diversi servizi in pillole che indagheranno sul panorama televisivo. La prima sezione, a cura del critico di "Avvenire" Mirella Poggialini, sarà dedicata ad un riassunto della scorsa stagione tv con un’analisi critica sui motivi di successo e di flop di alcune produzioni. A seguire uno spazio dedicato ai generi televisivi: ogni giorno si alterneranno i contributi di Leo Damerini sui telefilm (curati da Elena Palin), un viaggio nel tempo da "Ai confini della realtà" a "X-Files", fino ai prossimi "Dirt" e "Studio 60"; di Armando Fumagalli, docente dell’Università Cattolica di Milano, sulle fiction, di Ivano Balduini, autore televisivo sul varietà e di Domenico Liggeri, autore tv e scrittore, sui videoclip. Non mancherà inoltre uno sguardo all’attualità con servizi, speciali, anteprime e anticipazioni sulla prossima stagione. Infine Massimo Scaglioni, docente dell’Università Cattolica di Milano, terrà una rubrica sull’”alfabeto della tv di domani”: dalla A alla Z spiegherà i termini che caratterizzeranno sempre di più la tv del futuro. Il "Grande Talk Oggi" offrirà dunque ai telespettatori spunti e strumenti d’indagine per interrogarsi sui limiti e le risorse della tv di oggi, per accedere all’offerta televisiva in modo più razionale e disincantato. Il "Grande Talk Oggi" è un programma scritto da Alessandro Zaccuri e Luciano Piscaglia. Il progetto grafico è a cura di Erica Brunetti. Sat 2000 è visibile sia sul satellite (pacchetto Sky – canale 801), sia sul digitale terrestre (piattaforma Rai). La visibilità del Grande Talk è inoltre garantita dalle numerose emittenti locali che aderiscono alla syndication di Sat 2000.

(ANSA) - LOS ANGELES, 1 AGO - La Paramount ha deciso di fare resuscitare "Star Trek" e ha affidato il compito a J.J. Abrams, una delle menti piu' innovative di Hollywood, un amante della fantascienza, gia' creatore di "Lost", "Alias" e regista del terzo film di "Mission Impossible". "Lo produrro' certamente e probabilmente lo dirigero' anche, ma non abbiamo ancora deciso ha detto Abrams. Abbiamo una storia incredibile, molto drammatica che onora i canoni degli episodi originali, anche se sara' qualcosa di mai visto prima". Si vocifera, i fan dell'Enterprise sono tanti, che la storia vertera' sulle origini della serie e sulle storie personali (come tradizione nelle produzioni create da Abrams) dei due personaggi principali, ovvero il capitano Kirk e il venusiano Spock: "Abrams non ha confermato ne' smentito. Non posso dire piu' di tanto perche' ci stiamo ancora lavorando e la storia sta prendendo forma. Non vorrei creare false aspettative". Gia', i fan di Star Trek non sono certo facili da controllare o da accontentare: "La pressione quando si parla di Star Trek e' unica e ho accettato questo lavoro sapendo bene di dovere rispettare i fan e la storia. Dopo Lost ho capito quanto sia importante avere questo tipo di atteggiamento. E' stata grande televisione: la serie originale e Next generation parlavano della natura umana e dell'idea di contrastare cose terribili e terrificanti. Erano belle storie che solo per caso erano anche di fantascienza. Quando guardo qualche vecchio episodio con i miei figli (sette e sei anni) e vedo come reagiscono a uno show creato quando sono nato io, so che non è per via dell'astronave, ma per la connessione emozionale che si viene a creare con i protagonisti e per le storie raccontate". Ovviamente Abrams era un fan della serie, "di quella originale e del primo film, il resto non mi e piaciuto molto e infatti quando mi hanno proposto di fare un altro film ho voluto subito chiarire che tipo di pellicola avevo in mente e ho accettato solo quando mi hanno dato carta bianca". Che Abrams fosse un amante della fantascienza lo avevano capito tutti coloro che hanno visto Alias o lo stesso Lost: "In Lost ci sono diversi elementi che riportano a 'The prisoner' e a 'The Twilight Zone'. La sigla iniziale, che e' in bianco e nero, e un omaggio alla serie e l'ho creata sul mio laptop. E anche la colonna sonora: diversa, ma a farci attenzione si nota una certa somiglianza con quella di the Twilight Zone e poi c'e' questa misteriosa entità che tutto controlla, che e' una costante di questi show". Pero' "Lost" non e' stato presentato come uno show di fantascienza: "Certo, altrimenti non lo avrebbero mai mandato in onda. Abbiamo un pochino ingannato la Abc, ma a fin di bene, perche in quel periodo la fantascienza non tirava in tv. Il successo di X-Files era considerato un anomalia, dunque all inizio abbiamo deciso di tenerci questo piccolo particolare per noi e lo abbiamo omesso al momento di presentare il nostro progetto. Rimango dell'idea che ci siano comunque storie buone e storie scadenti e che la chiave di qualsiasi serie siano i personaggi e le loro storie poi definirla fantascienza o meno non ha molta importanza. L importante e raccontare una storia in modo onesto". Ora la situazione è cambiata: "Ora c'e' tanta fantascienza e per un fan come me e tutto grasso che cola". I fan di "Lost" sono preoccupati perche' senza Abrams la serie non sara la stessa cosa: "A dire il vero la scorsa stagione non sono stato molto coinvolto nella sviluppo di Lost, perchè stavo facendo Mission Impossibile. Ora invece voglio occuparmene di più: scrivero' alcuni episodi e ne dirigerò uno. Abbiamo quasi pensato a tutta la stagione ed e incredibile, ci sono storie davvero incredibili e l'unica anticipazione che posso fare e' che Desmond non e morto".
