LA VITA E' UNA COSA SERIAL - Vent'anni di "Sex and the City": ma è ancora vivo il suo mito? Ha retto al passare di due decenni?

"La domanda più scomoda quando si tratta di prodotti di intrattenimento: ha retto il passare del tempo? Ha lasciato in eredità qualcosa in più dell'aver reso famosi marchi come Manolo Blahnik e Christian Louboutin? Il 6 giugno si sono compiuti 20 anni esatti dalla messa in onda di Sex and The City, la serie che ha raccontato per la prima volta quanto fosse normale per le donne trentenni rimanere single, pensare alla carriera, uscire con le amiche, godersi anni di sano divertimento e di sesso spensierato. Vibratori, incontri a tre, romanticismo, matrimonio, amicizia, cancro al seno, infertilità: non c'è argomento che le quattro protagoniste - Carrie, Miranda, Samantha e Charlotte - non abbiano affrontato, dettando toni e argomenti che avrebbero occupato gran parte della televisione femminile del futuro. E non c'è dubbio che la serie abbia raccontato le tendenze (non solo sessuali) con un occhio così puntuale per i gusti veloci dei newyorkesi da sembrare profetico: il Meatpacking quartiere in ascesa, la fuga della classe media a Brooklyn, Pastis e Balthazar ristoranti di riferimento.

Un'epoca che non esiste più Sex and The City ha raccontato meglio di chiunque altro un'epoca. Il problema è che quell'epoca non esiste più. Per le femministe di oggi lo show è troppo consumistico (in una famosa puntata Carrie calcola che la sua collezione di scarpe vale 40 mila dollari, il deposito per il mutuo del suo appartamento) e troppo legato a valori effimeri che stonano con la società in crisi in cui viviamo. È anche molto, troppo bianco: a parte l'apparizione di un medico afro americano, fidanzato brevemente con Miranda, c'è una drammatica mancanza di diversità. La stessa Sarah Jessica Parker - oltre che protagonista, produttore esecutivo per tutte e sei le stagioni - in una recente intervista ha ammesso che, oggi, una delle quattro dovrebbe essere per forza afro americana. Cynthia Nixon, che nello show interpreta l'avvocato Miranda, la più femminista delle quattro, e che oggi è candidata al ruolo di Governatore di New York, ha ammesso di essere stata disturbata dal troppo consumismo: «Quando ho rivisto la scena in cui Mr Big fa costruire una gigantesca cabina armadio per fare felice Carrie mi sono chiesta se sia questo il messaggio che vogliamo trasmettere». Persino Candace Bushnell, la giornalista autrice della column da cui è tratta la serie, in un'intervista al Guardian ha dichiarato: «Nella vita reale Carrie e Big non sarebbero tornati insieme». Un sentimento condiviso da quelle fan che nel matrimonio finale hanno visto tradite le premesse iniziali: sei stagioni a dire che alle donne non servono gli uomini per essere felici e realizzate per poi finire con la più disneyana delle favole? A dispetto di queste dissonanze, è però vero che Sex and The City gode ancora di un successo clamoroso, testimoniato all'interesse per un possibile terzo film (i primi due hanno incassato rispettivamente 415 e 294 milioni) e per il numero di account Instagram dedicati alla serie, alle sue frasi famose, agli abiti delle protagoniste, e seguiti da centinaia di migliaia di follower. In uno dei più seguiti le frasi delle protagoniste vengono analizzate secondo la iper sensibilità odierna per cui quando Carrie dice di indossare una collana d'oro «come una del ghetto» le si commenta ironicamente che è una frase che non tiene conto dei suoi privilegi di donna bianca. La fashion editor che lo gestisce, Chelsea Fairless, dice: «È vero, lo show è troppo bianco, troppo materialistico e non abbastanza serio, ma sono stanca anche solo a pensare allo sforzo che mi ci vorrebbe per boicottarlo, e preferisco usare quelle energie per combattere il patriarcato». Kim Cattrall responded to Cynthia Nixon in a very different way than she responded to Sarah Jessica Parker. Earlier this month, Kim‘s brother suddenly passed away and two of her former Sex and the City co-stars, Cynthia and Sarah Jessica wrote comments on Kim‘s Instagram post, expressing condolences.

“Hey Kim, such awful news. So sorry to hear. Sending you love. XO,” Cynthia wrote. Sarah Jessica posted, “Dearest Kim, my love and condolences to you and yours and Godspeed to your beloved brother. Xx.”

Later, Kim thanked Sarah Jessica and Cynthia publicly for their kind words, but then suddenly, Kim lashed out at SJP for “exploiting” her family’s tragedy.

According to Us Weekly, Kim wrote in response to Cynthia‘s comment, “Cynthia, hearing your voice meant so much to me. Thank you for reading out. Love Kim.” It appears as of right now, Kim has decided to prohibit commenting on her Instagram posts, so we cannot verify that Kim left the comment at this time.

More details from Kim Cattrall‘s interview with Piers Morgan about her Sex and the City co-stars have been revealed. If you missed it, it all started when rumors spread that Kim was being extremely demanding over the possibility of doing a third Sex and the City film. It was then revealed that a third movie was not going to happen and the show’s star, Sarah Jessica Parker, said she was disappointed by the news. In her interview with Piers, Kim slammed Sarah Jessica, and now she’s opening up even more about her side of the story with regards to co-stars Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis, and Sarah Jessica.

“I’ve moved on, this is what my sixties are about, they’re about me making decisions for me not my career, for me. And that feels frickin fantastic,” Kim said. “But everything comes to an end and in closing one door another door opens and that door has been waiting for a long time.”

“And that’s another thing that’s really disappointing is that nobody ever picks up the phone and tries to contact you and say, ‘how you doing?’ That would have been the way to handle it,” Kim added. “And usually what happens in a healthy relationship is that someone, or a transaction for a job in my business, is that someone says, ‘are you available?’ and you say ‘yes’ and here’s the job and you say ‘yes but thank you very much but I’m sort of over here right now but thank you very much’ and that person turns to you and they say ‘that’s great, good luck to you, I wish you the best.’ That’s not what happened here, this is, it feels like a toxic relationship.”

“They all have children and I am ten years older and since specifically the series ended I have been spending most of my time outside of New York so I don’t see them,” Kim continued. “The common ground that we had was the series and the series is over.”

A third Sex & the City movie is no longer on the table – and Kim Cattrall is the reason. The movie, which was greenlit by Warner Bros. and due to go into pre-production this month, has been shelved due to Kim‘s demands, according to DailyMailTV. Sarah Jessica Parker confirmed the cancellation in an interview with Extra on Thursday (September 28): ““It’s over…we’re not doing it. I’m disappointed. We had this beautiful, funny, heartbreaking, joyful, very relatable script and story. It’s not just disappointing that we don’t get to tell the story and have that experience, but more so for that audience that has been so vocal in wanting another movie.”

According to the report, Kim demanded that they produce other movies she was developing or she wouldn’t sign for the project. Warner Bros. refused, and so production was canceled. Sarah, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon were all reportedly on board to film the now-scrapped movie.

On Divorce: “It’s so delightful to be back there and telling the story I want to tell and being supported and given the opportunity and the resources to do it and work with the extraordinary actors who I love, who I think are incredible and inspiring. It’s been a total thrill.”

Apparently, Sarah Jessica Parker has a wild fan theory about Sex and the City that would change everything if it were true — except that it makes absolutely no sense. Parker was interviewed on the podcast Nerdist this week and she told host Chris Hardwick about her spin on the show: "I used to wonder if Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda were real," Parker said. "That that wasn't just her column". Wait, what? Is SJP revealing that, during the years she spent portraying Sex and the City's central heroine Carrie Bradshaw, she harbored a secret theory that Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda  (a.k.a. "The Girls") were all figments of Carrie's writerly imagination? This a little more grounded than the fan theory that Sandy was dead the whole time in Grease — but just barely. Parker revealed she thought Bradshaw could have created her three friends as a "literary conceit" — three archetypical women characters created so that Bradshaw could tell stories in her column.

If Charlotte and Samantha and Miranda were all made up, that would explain Carrie's ability to narrate scenes she's not in – but other than that, it doesn't really make sense. Does that mean the plot of every single episode is the text of Carrie's column that week? That would make her columns super long and dialogue-heavy and probably not all that fun to read. 

Maybe Parker is trying to pull a J.K. Rowling and blow our minds with "new information" revealed years after the show ended, but it also doesn't really matter whether she thinks Charlotte and Samantha and Miranda were "fictional" fictional characters or just normal fictional characters. To us, they'll always be real.

What do we do? Every community has a community of veterans. Where do we begin?”
First Lady Obama, on the importance of asking for help: “I never try to come close to comparing my life to these women’s lives. But, if you think about it, when you [have] a spouse who travels or is away a lot, women do adapt…. The challenge is when the missing spouse comes back and they’re trying to reintegrate into a well-oiled machine…. How do you let yourself become vulnerable when you don’t know when that call will come, and they’ve got to [go away again]?… And many of these women are young. When I was going through this [when President Obama got into politics], I was in my thirties, I had my career, and I had family with me. I [try to] put myself in the place of some of these young women—maybe they’re in their twenties, they have their third kid, they’re not established in their careers, they’re miles away from their family—and imagine the stresses. So my advice is, ask for help. Keep asking. Because that’s the only way I survived. My women friends—how we get through is we reach out.”

Anni dopo la fine delle riprese della celebre serie televisiva, e dai due film, l'attore Chris Noth che ha interpretato l'unico vero amore della protagonista Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), torna a parlare della storia tormentata tra i due, senza risparmiare critiche. "Una delle cose che dico ai fan e' che non ho mai preteso di essere quello che non sono. Era Carrie che cercava di far finta di essere quella che non era. Lui, 'Big', e' sempre stato onesto, non l'ha mai tradita", ha detto Noth, 59 anni, al sito Australia News.com. "Il rapporto semplicemente non ha funzionato e lui si e' sposato. Quanti fidanzati ha invece avuto Carrie? Era proprio una p...!", ha aggiunto. "C'e' sempre stato un equivoco e cioe' che lei era una sua vittima. Non e' cosi' - ha aggiunto Noth -. Carrie era una donna intelligente e forte". Sex and the City series executive producer Michael Patrick King spoke with Entertainment Weekly about the possibility of a third film installment — on the heels (pun firmly not intended) of Sarah Jessica Parker telling InStyle that she believed “there was another chapter to tell” last month. If you’ll recall, Sex and the City 2 was critically panned as a load of steaming horseflop, even from those who enjoyed the HBO series. (Note: I will use any excuse to link to Lindy West’s epic review of SATC2.)

Acknowledging Parker’s comments on a third film, King explains, “Sarah Jessica and I both know what that final chapter is. That doesn’t mean it will or should be told, but I do think there’s one story left. Whether it ever happens is a whole other situation. But there’s four girls, and those girls are still in my mind. There are other stories to tell and characters that haven’t even been written yet.”

Just because, theoretically, there may be stories left to tell, doesn’t mean you necessarily have to unburden your soul with the film version of Norovirus telling them. I mean, I like Girls as much as the next person, but so help me god if twenty years from now I have to watch a middle-aged Hannah still being an emotionally-retarded hunk of meatloaf parading around in ill-fitting outfits and Marnie’s metamorphosis into the homicidal trophy wife we all know she’s destined to become — I will jam a Q-tip through my ear clear into my temporal lobe.

(ANSA) - (di Nicoletta Tamberlich) - Le Manolo ai piedi Carrie arrivera' a indossarle solo all'ottavo episodio, quando avra' modo di assaggiare il famigerato cocktail Cosmopolitan e sara' un'autentica folgorazione. E' anche se e' ancora vergine e imbranata, diventera' prima o poi una donna. Il 20 giugno debuttera' in Italia in prima tv assoluta su Mya di Mediaset Premium The Carrie Diaries, ribattezzato il prequel di Sex and City, perche' racconta gli anni giovanili di Carrie Bradshaw, che sarebbe poi diventata la scrittrice giornalista fashion victim del noto telefilm. A prestarle il volto la 19enne AnnaSophia Robb, qui in versione liceale anni Ottanta, che ha recentemente confessato che inizialmente pensava di rifiutare perche' temeva i confronti con Sarah Jessica Parker che del resto aveva dato vita a un personaggio talmente gia' caratterizzato da rendere decisamente impossibile crearne un abbozzo. La Parker ha inviato una lettera alla Robb: ''Mi ha fatto le congratulazioni e mi ha detto cosa ha significato per lei il ruolo di Carrie, come le ha cambiato la vita''. Il produttore esecutivo della serie tv, Amy Harris (Sex and the City, Gossip Girl), ha tenuto a precisare che non ha voluto ''presentare una versione baby del telefilm cult: non ci sono le versioni adolescenti di Miranda, Charlotte e Samatha, lo show e' incentrato su come le relazioni e le amicizie giovanili siano moto diverse da quelle che si hanno da adulti''. Eppure i riferimenti alla Carrie del futuro ci sono, come i no decisi alla palestra e alla cucina, il diario scritto davanti alla finestra, l'amore per la citta' e la scrittura. Inoltre la scena iniziale del pilot ricorda l'intro di Sex and the city: una Carrie sognante, con gonna ampia e pochette in mano, che viene di colpo ''riportata alla realta''' (un passante maleducato nel caso di Robb, un autobus che la schizza nel caso di Parker). Nella serie tv Carrie, infatti, e' ancora una ragazzina di 17 anni che va al liceo: all'inizio vive in una piccola citta', ''era il 1984, la narrativa rosa faceva furore e avevamo un attore come presidente''. I produttori hanno specificato che il telefilm non e' un prequel diretto della serie televisiva della HBO Sex and the City, ma un adattamento dell'omonimo romanzo di Candace Bushnell, in Italia pubblicato con il titolo Il diario di Carrie, che narra le vicende di una giovane Carrie Bradshaw. La serie, che ha debuttato negli Stati Uniti il 14 gennaio sulla rete The CW, descrive un ambiente e un contesto non troppo differente da quello che viviamo noi oggi. Scuola, amici, primi amori, anche se la protagonista si sente diversa dai suoi coetanei. Ha perso la mamma, e' dunque piu' matura e fragile, ha una sorella piu' piccola a cui badare, cleptomane e che nasconde marjuana insieme alla biancheria, un padre con il quale dovra' imparare a rapportarsi, ma soprattutto ha un unico grande sogno: diventare una scrittrice e trasferirsi a New York. Nel primo episodio appaiono chiare quelle che saranno le colonne portanti della serie: da un lato la vita da liceale di Carrie, decisa ad iniziare una relazione con Sebastian, conteso con Donna, la ragazza piu' popolare della scuola; dall'altro c'e' New York. Carrie, infatti, inizia a lavorare come stagista in uno studio legale di Manhattan e, proprio nella Grande Mela, conosce Larissa, una donna alla moda e stravagante che le insegnera' a conoscere ed amare la citta'. Ottima la colonna sonora del pilot in cui spiccano: New Order, 'Blue Monday'; Madonna, 'Material Girl'; Kim Carnes, 'Bette Davis Eyes'; Depeche Mode, 'Just Can't Get Enough'; Footloose 'Kenny Loggins'. La bellezza nel personaggio di Carrie e' la sua spontaneita', la sua forza, ma anche la sua insicurezza: 'the last virgin', che comincia a interrogarsi sul sesso e sulla fiducia. Sara' interessante vedere quale sara' il passaggio che portera' da ''It's not a big deal, Carrie, sex isn't anything'' a ''Sex and the city''.

L'attrice e' stata inserita nella top delle 100 donne piu' belle al mondo da 'People', ma quando le viene chiesto se le fa piacere sentirsi la nuova fidanzatina d'America e d'Europa replica: ''Preferisco essere accettata per quella che sono, una ragazza normale che quando andava al liceo era un po' sfigata''. Primo appuntamento alla cittadella del cinema, l'incontro di Dianna con 1.500 Gleeks, i fan che da mesi hanno ottenuto il preziosissimo braccialetto verde lasciapassare. Poi, tra ali di folla trepidante, scene di autentico delirio e lacrime, ecco Dianna: capelli biondi ben pettinati lunghi alle spalle, ballerine ai piedi, vestito leggero svasato anni '50, niente trucco (unico vezzo un rossetto acceso che contrasta sulla pelle bianca trasparente). 'La nostra 'Lady D'', e' scritto su un cartello mostrato orgogliosamente da alcuni fan. ''Mi ispiro a Audrey Hepburn - racconta  -, vedendo i suoi film ho capito quel che volevo fare. Poi a Sofia Loren e Grace Kelly, sono cresciuta guardando la loro eleganza nei film degli anni '50 e '60''. Ai ragazzi destinati, secondo le previsioni, ad entrare della Neet Generation regala scampoli di speranza: ''Non molto tempo prima di cominciare a lavorare per Glee ho fatto oltre 30 audizioni per avere una particina di un musical e non ci sono riuscita. Ero a terra. Poi ho fatto un provino per Glee e mi
hanno preso subito. Alla fine le cose importanti succedono anche se inizialmente puo' sembrare che le cose non vadano come vorremmo''. Una ragazzina dice che a scuola organizzano recite ispirate a Glee, altri le consegnano ritratti, poesie e lettere, quelli che riescono a fare una domanda poi alla fine le urlano 'I love you!!'. La 26enne Dianna sorride. Parla del suo personaggio Quinn Fabray e anticipa qualcosa della nuova serie: ''Al nostro produttore piacciono molto i musical, ma ci saranno piu' canzoni contemporanee e tra Quinn e Rachel tornera' l'amicizia. Io andro' a Yale e cosi' anche altri compagni. Non confondete pero' i personaggi di Glee e le vite che facciamo nella realta', ognuno di noi ha una propria personalita'''. Tra le star viste in Glee, Britney Spears, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ricky Martin, Lindsay Lohan, Whoopi Goldberg , Olivia Newton John. Nella quarta serie (negli Usa a meta' settembre e poi in Italia su Fox) sono attese Sarah Jessica Parker e Jennifer Hudson. Poi manda in estasi i ragazzi: ''Nei film si puo' recitare, cantare e ballare e questo mi ha fatto capire che, grazie al mio lavoro, posso restare un po' piccola per sempre. Amore e' stare con gli amici, con i familiari, dipingerci il viso per rimanere adolescenti''. Non sfugge alla domanda sulla gravidanza visto che Quinn, nell'ultima serie, e' rimasta incinta e ha deciso di tenere il bambino: ''Non so cosa avrei fatto se fosse capitato a me quando ero a scuola. Ma era importante che una scelta del genere avvenisse in un telefilm cosi' seguito''. L'apoteosi, quando una fan chiede a Dianna di cantare. ''Ok, ma canti con me''. La giovanissima sale sul palco in lacrime e abbraccia. La canzone scelta, cantata in coro da tutti i Gleeks, e' 'Hey Jude' di Lennon-McCartney, anno 1968.

NEWS - Non solo "Dallas". Mediaset(ris): "The Carrie Diaries", "The Following" e verso la "Revolution" di JJ Abrams...
(Ansa) Non solo Dallas. In attesa dell'arrivo del sequel in autunno su Canale 5, Mediaset si e' aggiudicata una coppia d'assi pescata nel mazzo delle serie tv piu' attese della prossima stagione. Ovvero: The Carrie Diaries, il prequel di Sex and the City ambientato negli anni '80, e The Following, che vede il debutto di Kevin Bacon da protagonista di telefilm. Secondo alcune voci, Mediaset starebbe anche puntando su Revolution, la nuova creatura (apocalittica) firmata da quel gran genio di J.J. Abrams. 

The Carrie Diaries, in onda su Mya nel 2013, vede Carrie Bradshaw nei panni di una 'gossip girl' negli anni '80 pre-Manolo nella serie che compie un flashback nell'adolescenza della protagonista di Sex and the City. Tra trucchi appariscenti, 'Studio 54', mega-spalline come se piovessero e pettinature vistose, il ruolo della protagonista e' stato affidato alla 18enne Anna Sophia Robb, la quale ha ricevuto i complimenti e l'incoraggiamento da Sarah Jessica Parker, colei che ha reso Carrie un'icona extra-televisiva. La firma di Josh Schwartz, gia' dietro ai successi teen di The OC e Gossip Girl, e' un segno di garanzia. 

The Following (su Premium Crime nel 2013) segna il debutto seriale di un attore importante come Kevin Bacon ed e' firmato da Kevin Williamson, gia' autore di hit generazionali quali Dawson's Creek e The Vampire Diaries, anche se in questo caso predilige la venatura piu' adulta e piu' dark messa gia' alla prova nella saga cinematografica di Scream. Bacon interpreta un agente dell'Fbi alle prese con una ragnatela di serial killer alla quale e' assai difficile sfuggire e da' vita ad un rompicapo ossessionante. Nel cast si segnalano anche Maggie Grace (Lost) e James Purefoy (Roma).

Come se non bastasse, Mediaset sta anche puntando a Revolution, forse il serial piu' atteso della nuova stagione non fosse altro per la firma di J.J. Abrams alle prese con un futuro assai prossimo apocalittico. Un misterioso black-out ha gettato l'umanita' nel panico e senza l'energia elettrica. Il mondo si ritrova senza democrazia e le societa' si sono organizzate in un regime di pre-rivoluzione industriale in cui l'unico scopo quotidiano e' la sopravvivenza. In un clima sospeso tra I Sopravvissuti e Lost, si riconoscono tra gli interpreti Elisabeth Mitchell (gia' al fianco di Abrams in Lost) e Giancarlo Esposito (C'era una volta). L'ideatore della serie e' Eric Kripke, che si e' fatto notare con il successo di Supernatural.
