Paul Wesley and Phoebe Tonkin have called it quits yet again after reconciling earlier this year. The former Vampire Diaries co-stars date on and off for the past four years, but fans recently noticed that the actors unfollowed each other on Instagram and now Us Weekly has confirmed the breakup. Paul and Phoebe previously split in April, but got back together after a month apart. They were last seen together while holding hands in May.

If you think you've been seeing a lot of Nina Dobrev lately, it's not just because The Vampire Diaries stunner has been burning up Fashion Week by hitting five shows in two days.

It must also be because you caught sight of her—and we mean a whole lot of her—on the current cover of Entertainment Weekly, in which the porcelain beauty gets hot and heavy with her hunkalicious vampire costars Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder. (Nope, her vampire-centric life definitely doesn't, ahem, suck.)

We nabbed the classy and charming star backstage at the Monique Lhuillier show to ask her about that shoot, and she gave us some fun scoop about flashing flesh—for magazine shoots and TV shows.

Get this: She even once passed on a part in an award-winning TV series because she wasn't ready to drop trou…

"You know, I actually turned down something, because of the nudity, for Boardwalk Empire," she tells us when we asked about her thoughts on baring some skin.

"But I was really young at the time. I'd just finished Degrassi, and I wasn't ready for it. But I don't think there's anything wrong with it, and I think if you're immersed in a role and if it's appropriate for the role, I say go for it. You just have to find the right role. But I think nudity has to be tasteful and appropriate and not gratuitous."

So what was the mood like on the Entertainment Weekly cover shoot?

"Whether you're on set or on a photo shoot, those kinds of things—when there's a lot of people watching you—you have to be able to laugh. But they're always a little awkward, a little tense."

Good thing she definitely knows how to laugh about it all. "I'm proud to say that up until this point, I've been able to keep my clothes on!" she says about agreeing to do the racy shoot. "I've gotten to where I am and kept my clothes on, so now I've reached the point where you gotta start taking the layers off!" she jokes.

Great to see she's got a good sense of humor when it comes to keeping The Vampire Diaries' fans happy!

Somehow, for a series packed with vampires, werewolves, witches, hybrids (and yes, even the occasional ghost), it’s a love triangle between two undead brothers, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley), and one very mortal girl, Elena (Nina Dobrev), that gets The Vampire Diaries fans the most riled up. (And judging from the chemistry in our cover photos, it’s not hard to see why. Check out collectors’ covers No. 2 and 3 after the jump.)

When executive producers Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec decided that they were finally ready for bad-boy Damon to share a legitimate kiss with Elena — after more than two years of buildup — they knew it would have to satisfy two avid fan bases: those who wanted to see Elena get with Damon, and those who were still holding out hope for her to work things out with soul mate, Stefan.

“It’s one of those things that you want to be able to defend,” Williamson explains to EW. “But even more importantly, you’d rather not defend it. You want it to feel real and right and natural by all the audience.” Satisfying the “shippers” (a term used to identify fans who root for fictional characters to have relationships), is a challenge both Williamson and Plec have faced each time they’ve tried to advance the triangle. Asks Plec: “How can we service this moment between our characters that we really want, a Damon and Elena kiss, without getting the Stefan-Elena side of the fandom to give up hope and give up on us? And vice versa, when we want Stefan and Elena to have a moment together, how can we do that and not have our Delena fans outraged?”.

This week’s EW cover story also features interviews with Vampire‘s stars — Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder, and Paul Wesley — who talk about keeping the love triangle red-hot, where they fall in the Stelena-Delena shipper wars, and all rumors swirling around their real-life relationships. Says Dobrev: “The rumor mills were ‘Is Nina with Ian or is Nina with Paul?’ There was a lot of speculation.” Notes Somerhalder coyly, “Nothing has been confirmed yet.”

Giunta ormai quasi a metà della terza stagione, The Vampire Diaries, fiore all’occhiello della CW, si guadagna questa settimana il titolo di serie top. Senza perdere ritmo o calare di tono infatti, il telefilm, tratto dalla saga de I Diari del Vampiro, di Lisa J Smith, continua a mietere grande successo tra il pubblico, teen ma non solo, regalando al network ascolti superiori ai 3 milioni di spettatori ogni settimana. Il dualismo tra i fratelli Salvatore, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) e Stefan (Paul Wesley), rivali in amore per la dolce Elena (Nina Dobrev), continua e assume man mano caratteristiche sempre più interessanti, svelandoci lati del carattere dei protagonisti che ancora ci erano sconosciuti. La terza stagione, ricca di new entry e guest star “dall’oltretomba”, punta tutto su flashback, grandi (e graditi) ritorni, intrecci dai risvolti inaspettati e misteri finalmente svelati. Attraverso il classico meccanismo delle scatole cinesi, molti segreti vengono finalmente svelati, viene fatta luce su interrogativi lasciati in sospeso, e non mancano momenti di forte pathos ed emozione. Il plot regge nonostante il trascorrere del tempo, il cast convince sempre di più, e la sceneggiatura si arricchisce di quella qualità che manca ai romanzi. Leader indiscusso e trascinatore della serie, per il terzo anno consecutivo, l’inarrestabile Damon.

Mai avrei pensato di dirlo, ma ahimè, la serie down della settimana è Misfits: dopo due stagioni brillanti, sfolgoranti e dissacranti, tutto (o quasi) sembra sparito. A pochi episodi dall’inizio manca un plot orizzontale che crei quella coesione tra i personaggi necessaria a suscitare l’interesse dello spettatore. Non c’è continuità e le storyline verticali si esauriscono nell’arco di un singolo episodio, creando una frammentazione nella trama fastidiosa e poco coerente. L’umorismo ha iniziato a scadere nel volgare, ha perso quel brio che lo aveva reso unico nel suo genere: ciò che resta è un insieme di banali battute a sfondo sessuale, capaci di riscuotere una semplice risata forzata, quasi dovuta. Pensavo di poter affrontare una stagione senza Nathan, l’impareggiabile Robert Sheehan,ma mi sbagliavo. Joseph Gilgun, subentrato a Robert nel cast nel ruolo dell’eccentrico Rudy è il suo degno erede: sboccato, borderline, innamorato delle donne (tutte) e del sesso (forse fin troppo), strafottente. Proprio come Nathan. Troppo come Nathan, questo è il punto. Forte del successo ottenuto lo scorso anno, la serie rischia di cadere nello stereotipo, e gli stereotipi si sa, alla lunga annoiano.
