Baywatch has faced a tsunami of middling to bad reviews, but that won’t stop the comedy-action movie from jetting forward to a sequel, and possibly, a franchise. Producers and writers are already planning a sequel to Baywatch with the cast, led Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron, returning in their roles. Baywatch itself is a big-screen reboot of the popular ’90s TV show starring David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson, and a sequel would somewhat follow the footsteps of the successful movie reboot of 21 Jump Street. Though, according to reviews, that’s the only thing they have in common. Baywatch producer Beau Flynn told Variety that he and writers Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, who co-wrote the script for the first movie, have a rudimentary plan for Baywatch 2.

“We have an amazing story already. We’re bringing back Shannon and Swift who wrote on the first one, and I know Dwayne would be in, I know Zac and all the girls would be. We just have this really cool idea to put them in this whole new world. We would take it overseas.”

The “girls” in the cast that he mentions are Priyanka Chopra, Alexandra Daddario and Kelly Rohrbach, and other cast members include Jon Bass and Ilfenesh Hadera. They all seem game for another lap at the Baywatch pool, according to Variety.

Rohrbach, who made her feature film debut in Baywatch and takes over Pamela Anderson’s role from the original series, was especially excited.

“Of course! I couldn’t have asked for a better cast on my first film. These guys are awesome. They’re hilarious, they’re loving, they’re generous. We really were a family and I think that comes though on the screen, as well.”   Daddario agreed, adding: “Yes! I would love to. I think it’s very cool to be part of a franchise, and I think it helps get other work. It’s fun. You get to travel the world and work with these amazing people, and you get to make people laugh, so I’m completely down for it.”

Chopra is the villain of the film so it seems unlikely she’ll return for the second. And what of Johnson and Efron? Well, Johnson is this movie’s most dedicated hype man, and is one of the driving forces behind the movie making it to the big screen, acting as the lead star and producer. With Johnson at the forefront of other massive blockbusters like Fast and Furious, the upcoming Jumanji, and solo supervillain movie Black Adam, the world’s best paid actor would have his hands full. But he would probably sign on for a sequel anyway.

Knight Rider, the 1980s action series that made David Hasselhoff a star, is getting the Machinima treatment. The digital network said today it is partnering with producer-director Justin Lin, YOMYOMF and NBCUniversal Brand Development to produce a digital series reboot that will target a 2017 launch.
Lin, who knows something about the care and feeding of franchises after directing Fast & Furious 6 and most recently Star Trek Beyond, is set to produce the series which is now in development. He also is developing another car-centric property, Hot Wheels, as a feature film at Legendary Pictures.
Machinma is backed by Warner Bros but is teaming with NBCU here. NBC aired the original series about the smart-car named KITT and its mysterious do-gooder driver Michael Knight, played by Hasselhoff. Created by Glen A. Larson, it ran four seasons from 1982-1986. The network tried to reboot the series in 2008 with Justin Bruening in the lead role but it lasted only one season.
Machinima has specialized in live-action series based on TV and and video game franchises. This will join Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome, Mortal Kombat: Legacy and and Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn among others. Combined, those series have garnered more than 300 million views on Machinima.

With Baywatch set to hit the big screen one year from today (May 19, 2017),  Paramount Pictures has today released a special Baywatch postcard that offers a look at the film’s cast. From left to right, the Baywatch team includes Jon Bass, Alexandra Daddario, Zac Efron, Dwayne Johnson, Kelly Rohrbach and Ilfenesh Hadera. Check out the full version of the Baywatch postcard in the gallery viewer below!
Also starring Priyanka Chopra and Hannibal Buress, Baywatch offers a big-screen take on the television series that originally premiered on NBC in 1989. The original Baywatch cast included David Hasselhoff, Parker Stevenson, Shawn Weatherly, Billy Warlock, Erika Eleniak, Peter Phelps, Brandon Call and Holly Gagnier. The series was initially not a success and was cancelled after a single season. Plans were made, however, to move Baywatch into first-run syndication and, in 1991, Baywatch returned to the airwaves where it continued for a full decade, bringing in new cast members like Yasmine Bleeth and Pamela Anderson. The show also received a short-lived spinoff, Baywatch Hawaii.
This Baywatch postcard follows a steady stream of on set photography that has been shared by the film’s cast. You can check out previously-revealed shots from the R-rated comedy feature by scrolling through the gallery viewer.
Although several writers have been attached to the Baywatch movie, the most recent draft hails from the Friday the 13th pair of Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. Horrible Bosses and Identity Thief director Seth Gordon is helming the new Baywatch film, which is being produced by Dwayne Jonson alongside Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, Beau Flynn, Dany Garcia, Ivan Reitman and Douglas Schwartz.

What, you don’t know the Baywatch theme song by heart? Well, I guess you weren’t a masturbatory adolescent boy in the days before the internet. And now Paramount is trying to capitalize on the fact that idiots like me remember the Baywatch theme like it was our college fight song by making a feature adaptation. Oh, and it’s going to star Dwayne The Rock Johnson.

Paramount is moving forward with its big-screen adaptation of Baywatch and has loosely attached Dwayne Johnson for beach patrol duties. The studio also has hired Justin Malen to rewrite and has attached the hot comedy writing team of Sean Anders and John Morris (We’re the Millers, Horrible Bosses 2) to direct.
Johnson has long been rumored to head up a Baywatch movie, and the oft-shirtless star would seem a perfect fit for the action film that takes place along the perilous shores of Santa Monica.

Oh, like all it takes to be in Baywatch is the ability to look good shirtless? How DARE you. Somewhere David Hasselhoff is drunkenly eating a hamburger off the floor. The Hollywood Reporter actually got through this entire article without mentioning Hasselhoff once, which has to be a real kick to the groin for the guy who once tore down the Berlin Wall.

At one point the action was set to revolve around a series of shark attacks that led the Baywatch team to investigate a drug-smuggling operation. It is unclear what Malen’s take will be for the latest version.
Malen has become an in-demand writer after his 2011 Blacklist script Bastards became a hot comedy property. Montecito  will produce that film, and Alcon will finance. Malen also wrote the sequel to Bad Teacher for Sony, with Cameron Diaz attached to star. [HollywoodReporter]

Anyway, it’s hard to know what “loosely attached” means at this stage, or whether The Rock would be playing Mitch Buchanan or someone else. All I know is that if they need a Hobie, I’ve got two words for them: Miles. Teller.

Last year, we reported that The Weinstein Company had tapped screenwriter Brad Copeland (Wild Hogs) to pen the script for a big screen adaptation of the 1980s TV series Knight Rider. For those of you unfamiliar with the show, it starred David Hasselhoff as Michael Knight, a police detective reborn into a modern high-tech crime fighter by billionaire Wilton Knight. Michael becomes an agent of Foundation for Law and Government (FLAG), along with his vehicular partner, K.I.T.T. (Knight Industries Two Thousand), who was voiced by William Daniels (Boy Meets World). The show was remade back in 2008, but lasted for less than a season. Word on the project has been quiet since Copeland was hired, but now it looks like the movie might be going the action-comedy route. Hit the jump for more. According to Schmoes Know, “Chris Pratt and Danny McBride are in talks” for Knight Rider. That’s a pretty big statement since “in talks” usually means “in the final stages of negotiations.” This is the first time we’ve heard their names come up in connection to the project, and at this point it’s possible they’ve just taken a meeting or they’re on the studio’s wish list. Assuming this rumor is true, Schmoes speculates, “I think Pratt is being looked at for Michael Knight and McBride for the voice of KITT,” and I have to agree that would be a sound pairing. I also have to admit that the thought of Danny McBride as the voice of KITT brings a smile to my face.

E anche se l'immagine più da digerire è vedere la stilosa Jennifer Beals con un cappello da poliziotta extra-large, la serie cresce e si arricchisce di contenuti ogni settimana, superando di gran lunga gli standard polizieschi attuali".

LOS ANGELES - David Hasselhoff è stato ricoverato in un ospedale di Los Angeles. Lo rivela il sito Tmz. A chiamare i soccorsi sarebbe stata la figlia 17enne del protagonista di "Supercar" e "Baywatch" dopo averlo trovato completamente ubriaco e privo di conoscenza in casa. La ragazzina avrebbe avvertito sua madre, Pamela, e successivamente sarebbe stato allertato il numero per le emergenze. Non è la prima volta che Hasselhoff finisce al centro dell'attenzione per i suoi guai con l'alcol.

(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, 18 DIC - L'attore di 'Baywatch' David Hasselhoff ha raggiunto un accordo con la moglie Pamela Bach, dopo una feroce battaglia legale, per la custodia delle due figlie adolescenti della coppia. Un giudice aveva a suo tempo affidato all'attore la custodia delle figlie Hayley (15 anni) e Taylor Ann (17 anni) ma l'ex-bagnino della serie Tv 'Baywatch' era stato inondato da pubblicita' negativa dopo essere stato filmato da una delle figlie mentre giaceva, ubriaco e seminudo, sul pavimento di casa incapace di muoversi. L'attore, imbarazzato dalla diffusione del video su Internet, aveva ammesso di avere da tempo problemi d'alcol. Il divo era da tempo coinvolto in una aspra battaglia legale con la moglie Pamela per la custodia delle due figlie. L'accordo adesso raggiunto, prima dell'inizio il mese prossimo di un processo sicuramente acrimonioso, prevede la custodia congiunta delle due ragazze e una intesa finanziaria che restera' segreta.

Un bastone è un appoggio, un’arma o un simbolo di autorità? Tutte e tre le opzioni, nel caso del dottore più popolare e bastardo del piccolo schermo. Per Gregory House il bastone è come la giacca di pelle nera per Fonzie, il Generale Lee per Bo e Luke, il sesso per Samantha Jones e il costume intero rosso e sgambato per la C.J. Parker di “Baywatch”. L’attore inglese Hugh Laurie ha spiegato in un’intervista al settimanale americano “Entertainement Weekly” di aver comprato personalmente il bastone per il suo personaggio subito dopo aver appreso la lieta novella di aver ottenuto la parte del misantropo medico zoppicante. Ha trovato l’oggetto in un negozietto di Londra, in mezzo a chissà quali incredibili cimeli adatti a vecchi lord inglesi dall’aria polverosa e a signore tea-addicted con relativo cappellino e mania per oggetti d’antiquariato polverosi almeno quanto i loro mariti. “Era fatto di un legno raro proveniente dalla Malesia - ha raccontato l’attore 47enne con dovizia di particolari - aveva dei bellissimi anelli d’avorio e un manico a forma di corno. Un bastone molto politically incorrect, ma mi ha attirato come la spada di Excalibur”. Che la forza sia con lui, per rimanere in tema di spade, un bastone perfetto per il più imperfetto protagonista di un medical drama! Ma, con la stessa sfiga che puntualmente si accanisce su chi, dopo una missione di shopping compulsivo, è convinto di aver trovato l’oggetto perfetto da portare a casa (in questo caso sul set), il bastone in questione non ha avuto lunga vita e ha fatto una brutta fine: si è frantumato proprio durante le riprese del pilot di “Dottor House - Medical division” ed è stato rimpiazzato. A giudicare dal successo planetario che il telefilm sta avendo il bastone scelto da Laurie non era decisamente come i capelli segreto della forza di Sansone o come K.I.T.T. per il cotonatissimo David Hasselhoff: States, Spagna e Italia impazziscono per House. La seconda stagione, già in onda in Italia, negli Usa ha raggiunto la cifra record di 18,9 milioni di spettatori ogni settimana e si è aggiudicata il primo posto nella fascia del palinsesto del martedì che occupa su Fox. In Spagna House sta spodestando il proverbiale successo di “El Comisario” e qui nel bel paese il medico senza peli sulla lingua di Italia 1 ha sbancato l’Auditel, ufficializzando la sua incoronazione nell’olimpo dei programmi cult. Tornando all’oggetto del nostro interesse, il bastone utilizzato nella prima stagione del telefilm è stato venduto on line su eBay nel dicembre del 2005 per la bellezza di 8.300 dollari e i proventi dell’asta sono stati destinati alle famiglie di malati di distrofia muscolare (tema a cui la produzione è particolarmente sensibile perchè il figlio del co-executive producer Garrett Lerner soffre di questa malattia). Un’ultima nota, last but not least: se per ottenere successo e ottimi risultati d’ascolto bastasse comprare l’oggetto giusto in un negozietto d’antiquariato probabilmente qui in Italia si formerebbero davanti ai robivecchi file lunghi chilometri di ex glorie della tv in età pensionabile e pseudo-vips con il vizio del reality. E nemmeno l’immaginazione più fervida (e perversa) riuscirebbe a ipotizzare il tipo di oggetti che deciderebbero di acquistare per rappresentarli e rappresentarsi.

"Teletrasportati" da chissà dove, sono tornati sulla Terra George Takei (il Signor Sulu di "Star Trek") e David Hasselhoff (il Mitch di "Baywatch"). L'occasione è stata la consegna dei Big Awards del canale di videoclip musicali VH. Il primo è stato salutato come un vero e proprio idolo da tutti i presenti (compreso l'ex marito di Pamela Anderson, l'ipertatuato Tommy Lee), il secondo si è accompagnato alla figlia Hailey (scatenando i paparazzi che credevano fosse la sua nuova conquista!). Per entrambi un ritorno "ai confini della realtà" e del lifting salutato anche dall'immancabile Paris Hilton.

Si chiamava K.I.T.T., acronimo di Knight Industries Two Thousands, era una Pontiac Trans-Am rivestita di una speciale vernice "indistruttibile" nera, dotata di intelligenza artificiale, sintesi vocale e ogni sorta di improbabile apparecchiatura elettronica. Era lei la vera protagonista della fortunata serie degli anni Ottanta "Supercar" assieme all'attore David Hasselhoff, il quale ora negli Stati Uniti sta rivivendo una seconda giovinezza artistica. Adesso la rivelazione: Hasselhoff, parlando agli studenti irlandesi dell'università Trinity College di Dublino ha confessato che Kitt era in realtà gay. "Dopo le riprese, spesso anche durante, Kitt - con quella sua voce così sensuale - continuava a chiedermi: 'Vuoi portarmi a casa tua stasera? E io? Non potevo certo dirgli di no'"...
