The creators of Glee – Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan – have paid a beautiful tribute to Naya Rivera, who died after a drowning accident this week.

In their statement, the three producers honored Naya‘s memory and have stated that they intend to start a college fund for her four-year-old son, Josey.

“We are heartbroken over the loss of our friend Naya Rivera,” their tribute starts. “Naya wasn’t a series regular when we cast her on Glee. She didn’t have more than a few lines in the pilot. But it didn’t take more than an episode or two for us to realize that we had lucked into finding one of the most talented, special stars we would ever have the pleasure of working with.”

It continues, “Naya could act, she could dance, and she could sing (could she ever sing!) She could nail a joke as well as she could crush you with an emotional scene. She could move between being scary tough and deeply vulnerable with ease. She was a joy to write for, a joy to direct and a joy to be around.”

“Naya is responsible for numerous iconic Glee musical performances- The Adele Mash Up, Valerie, Songbird- but her greatest Glee legacy is probably the humor and humanity that she brought to Santana’s relationship with her best friend and eventual girlfriend/wife Brittany (played by Heather Morris). It was one of the first times an openly lesbian, high school relationship was seen on network television and Naya understood what ‘Brittana’ meant to the many young women who were seeing themselves represented on television for the first time.”

“Naya always made sure that Santana’s love for Brittany was expressed with dignity, strength and with pure intentions. Naya was always moved by the girls who reached out to her to tell her how much Santana and Brittany’s love affected them. Naya’s obligation to them- and to all of her fans- was obvious. She had the rare combination of humility and endless confidence in her talent.”

The three went on, saying, “Naya was a real pro. Always on time, always knew her lines (which wasn’t easy considering the giant mouthfuls of dialogue we often gave her), always kept everyone laughing on the set. She was warm and caring and fiercely protective of the rest of the cast. She was tough and demanding. She was fun. She was kind. She was generous. There were ups and downs during the wonderful and stressful years we spent making Glee. We disagreed, we fought, we made up, then we fought some more, than we made up again. The kinds of things that happen in a family. Naya was more than just an actor on our show- she was our friend.”

The statement concluded, “Our hearts go out to her family, especially her mom, Yolanda, who was a big part of the Glee family and her son Josey. The three of us are currently in the process of creating a college fund for the beautiful son Naya loved most of all.”

“I haven’t seen not one of the GLEE CAST MEMBERS POST ABT NAYA EXCEPT FOR @HeatherMorrisTV AND @dotmariejones y’all a need to do better @LeaMichele @JennaUshkowitz @chriscolfer,” one Twitter user wrote, sparking the conversation of why they didn’t. Amber was one of the first to clap back at her own reason – because it’s not about her. It’s about Naya. “Show some respect. All our energy is going toward helping find Naya and praying for her safe return and for her family. No one owes anyone online a performance of grief,” she wrote. “This is very real and devastating. Focus on Naya and her family. Not us. We don’t matter right now.”

Fans also came to Chris Colfer‘s defense, who hadn’t posted anything about Naya’s disappearnce. One wrote, “I just want to tell you that you don’t owe us anything, we love you and we’re here to support you and your friends who are going through so much pain right now, I’m sorry if there are people who have made you feel like you can’t grieve at peace, we love you ❤” Years ago, Chris also opened up about how he personally mourned losing Cory Monteith, who passed away seven years ago tomorrow, and his statement is just as relevant right now.

Lea Michele has deactivated her Twitter account as of the time of this posting.

Her usual handle, @leamichele, now shows a deactivated account page with none of her previous tweets listed.

Fans are beginning to theorize why Lea may have made this move. It has been a tough couple of months for Lea after she was involved in a big controversy over her alleged on set behavior.

Lea‘s Glee co-star, Naya Rivera, has also been missing for several days after boating with her son Josey, 4, at Lake Piru in California.

In addition, Monday (July 13) is the anniversary of Lea‘s boyfriend Cory Monteith‘s tragic death back in 2013. His cause of death was later revealed to be due to heroin and alcohol.

Hours later, Josey was found asleep on the boat, and told authorities that he and his mom went swimming, but Naya never returned to the boat. On Friday night, the authorities gave an update and explained why they’re ruling out suicide as a possibility in the disappearance.

Naya Rivera has unfollowed Lea Michele on Instagram following the allegations that have been made about the actress’ behavior on the set of Glee and other projects. It’s no secret to fans that Naya and Lea were in a feud throughout their time on the show and it has even been addressed by the show’s creator Ryan Murphy. Naya also addressed the feud in her memoir that came out in 2016. Naya had been following Lea on Instagram up until Tuesday night (June 2). Even Heather Morris is speaking out about the allegations made against her former Glee co-star Lea Michele. The 33-year-old actress and dancer, who played cheerleader Brittany S. Pierce on the beloved series, says that Lea was “very” unpleasant to work with. Samantha Ware, who appeared on the show’s final season, spoke out earlier this week and said that Lea made her first television gig a “living hell.”

Heather said, “Let me be very clear, Hate is a disease in America that we are trying to cure, so I would never wish for hate to be spread to anyone else. With that said, was she unpleasant to work with? Very much so; for Lea to treat others with the disrespect that she did for as long as she did, I believe she SHOULD be called out.”

“And yet, it’s also on us because to allow it to go on for so long without speaking out is something else we’re learning along with the rest of society,” Heather continued. “But, at the current moment its implied that she is a racist and although I cannot comment on her beliefs, I think we’re assuming, and you know what happens when we all assume…”

She’s clad in a long black cotton dress and oversize sunglasses, with her hair in a bun, held in place by a black headband. Wearing just a touch of foundation and mascara, Naya doesn’t mean to intimidate, although it’s hard not to be taken aback by her beauty. She’s got the presence you’d expect of a celebrity: Her face is expressionless as she scans the emails on her phone one last time before burying it in her black Prada bag. Sitting tall with her legs crossed, she is quiet, collected, and perfectly postured. But the poised moment doesn’t last.
The waiter returns with bad news: “I’m so sorry, we don’t have any Elderflower on hand for your 77.”
“Oh no? It’s OK. I’ll just take house champagne then,” she replies graciously. Spotting a glass cylinder of plastic-wrapped sticks in the middle of the table, Naya asks, “Do you guys have sushi, too? Is that why there are chopsticks here?”
“Those are breadsticks,” the waiter says.
“Oh, breadsticks. Right,” Naya replies in a cartoonish voice, laughing with embarrassment as she sinks into her chair, hand held to her forehead.

The waiter treats her like he knows she’s a big deal, and he’s right—Naya Rivera’s got all the makings of a soon-to-be household name: She’s the biggest star on the Emmy-winning TV powerhouse Glee, amassing a cult-like fan base for her portrayal of feisty lesbian cheerleader Santana Lopez. She just finished filming her first movie, the horror flick Home, and she’s getting ready to drop her as-yet-untitled debut album. With her career on the verge of a major tipping point, you’d expect Naya to come equipped with some serious diva-type tendencies. So why the hell is she so cool? Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that she was working full-time as a babysitter when she got cast for Glee five years ago. “I was still a nanny up until the third episode of season one,” she recalls. “I didn’t work that much and I didn’t know if I would still be around.” She only quit her babysitting gig after show creator Ryan Murphy convinced the network to make her a series regular.
With such a rapid rise, Naya is still feeling her way around celebrity. “If I wasn’t famous, I’d be on OkCupid,” she says. “All my friends are.” But Naya is famous, and she’s doing pretty well for herself in the relationship department—as her Instagram feed and numerous red carpet photos of her and her boyfriend Big Sean can attest. But today she has a different lunch companion.
“I feel like we’re on a date,” she jokes, mockingly sitting up straight in her chair. “Dates are nerve-racking. They’re weird. They’re like interviewing someone. They’re torture.”
Although the 26-year-old’s daily existence keeps her deep in the heart of La-La land, Naya is determined to keep it real. “Is it weird that I just want hummus and pita?” she continues, ditching her sushi plans. “Which I don’t see here—what was I saying?” As she chats away about family, friends, and music (faves include Big Sean, of course, Future, Robin Thicke, Lil Wayne, and Major Lazer), it becomes clear that she’s the rarest of Hollywood types: a young starlet who’s genuinely down-to-earth. Just don’t mistake her kindness for weakness.
"Naya isn’t afraid to go for and speak to what she wants,” says her Glee co-star Dianna Agron, who plays head cheerleader Quinn Fabray on the show. “Maybe there was a time in her life when this wasn’t the case, but all I have ever seen is a fearlessness to entertain and to be who she wants to be.”
Naya Marie Rivera grew up in Valencia, Calif., a cookie-cutter Los Angeles suburb, with her mother, father, and two younger siblings, Nickayla, now an 18-year-old fashion model, and Mychal, a 22-year-old tight end for the Oakland Raiders. Her mother, Yolanda Rivera, a former model, got her firstborn daughter an agent “straight out of the womb.” Naya’s first gig was a KMart commercial where she crawled across the screen in a diaper. She followed that with a starring role on the quickly canceled sitcom The Royal Family, and guest spots on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Family Matters.
Despite being on TV as a kid, Naya confesses that she didn’t have classmates lining up to be her friend—much less asking for her autograph. “I wish I had more fun in high school,” she says. “I wasn’t allowed to hang out with the black kids because they thought I wasn’t black enough, which was a problem.” Naya’s dad, George, is Puerto Rican and her half-German, half-African-American mother was strict, religious, and didn’t let her go out much. “On Friday nights, me and my friend Madison would stand outside the liquor store and bribe older people walking by to buy us wine coolers to drink while we watched The Notebook,” says Naya. She’s still a homebody who prefers to throw pool parties at her Los Feliz home rather than hit the clubs.
“I don’t understand how someone can be that funny, talented, and hot,” says her friend and Glee co-star Kevin McHale. It’s hard to believe Naya wasn’t a hit with the boys in high school, but she has her own horror story to prove it.
Naya’s prom date was a guy on the football team. “He started talking about how skinny I was,” she recalls. “All of his friends were like, ‘You need a thick girl.’ He was grinding on every other girl at the dance while I sat alone at the table, looking like a señorita.” She whips her head back and cups her hand to the side of her head, suggesting the ginormous flower she wore in her hair that night, à la Anita in West Side Story. “I didn’t even dance,” she says. “It was horrible.”
“Then he said, ‘So are you coming to the hotel?’ And I was like, ‘No, my dad is picking me up. On top of that, you’re trying to have sex with me? How rude are you?’” she says. The only time she speaks with her hands is when something pisses her off. Whoever that guy was, he must be kicking himself right now. But Naya insists she’s not bitter. “Best believe I’ll be at that reunion though.”
After lunch, which ends up being a plate of chips and guacamole, Naya heads to her weekly pedicure. Instead of her usual spot, she’s getting her toes done at ONE, a luxury spa in the Shutters hotel. The aroma of acetone and lavender permeates the private wood-paneled room, which is marked by two small porcelain tubs for soaking your feet. It doesn’t look like she needs the treatment. Her naturally bronze skin is so spotless you’d swear it was expertly Photoshopped. But she undoes the straps on her black Prada sandals anyway.

 

Kissing a girl was a little awkward just because we had a million grips, and all the guys wanted to visit the set that day. Heather and I just laughed it off.

 

“I love that they’re playing Billie Holiday,” she says, leafing through a copy of L.A. Confidential.
What begins as small talk between Naya and Traci, the older, aproned, African-American pedicurist, escalates into a history lesson about civil rights in L.A. “It’s like that with gay marriage now,” Naya remarks, sending Traci on a riff about Sir Lady Java, a 1960s transgender woman famous for her performances at the Redd Foxx Club. It’s not exactly a Zen topic, but Rivera doesn’t mind. She knows a thing or two about being a gay icon.
Ever since Glee’s 2009 pilot, Naya Rivera has played Santana Lopez, one of the most irresistible characters on television. She’s the show’s resident badass, capable of eviscerating anyone with her wit just as easily as she hypnotizes them with her palpable sexuality, which is as thick as the smog over Los Angeles. She’s also a lesbian—and it’s not just a phase. Her coming-out scene in season two became one of the hallmarks of the entire series. Santana’s relationship with her best friend, Brittany (played by actress Heather Morris), has been dubbed “Brittana” and it’s a frequent trending topic on Twitter. The pair are so beloved that their break-up last season sent many younger viewers into hysteria, some of whom sent death threats to Ryan Murphy.
“Having gay characters makes a difference, especially when you are a teenager and you need people to look up to,” Naya says as Traci nods in agreement. “Your world feels so small. The tiniest thing can make you think, ‘I’m gonna die!’ I’m glad Glee is around for people dealing with something that big in such a small world. It’s important.”
Despite Naya’s devout Christian upbringing, the announcement of Santana’s sexuality didn’t prompt her family to ship her off to Jesus Camp. “My mother believes in God but she’s the most nonjudgmental, cool person I know,” she says. “There was absolutely no problem.”
Nor did Naya have any apprehension about kissing her female co-star on camera. “Kissing a girl was a little awkward just because we had a million grips, and all the guys wanted to visit the set that day,” she jokes. “Heather and I just laughed it off.”
Santana seems to get hotter and hotter with each passing year. By the end of season four, she was doing her best Jennifer-Beals-in-Flashdance-meets-Piper-Perabo-in-Coyote-Ugly impression. That is to say, she dropped out of college to bartend and cage dance just to get by in New York, putting her hopes of becoming a professional dancer on hold. Oh, and she’s also girlfriend-less, which has left some former Brittana loyalists blogging about their ideal pick for Santana’s next lady love. Naya’s got her own ideas.
“It would be funny if she had a girlfriend who had Lena Dunham’s personality,” she says. “She’s been crying for two seasons now. I’d like her to just have fun.”
Naya’s content to leave her character to the Glee showrunners as she begins her transition to the big screen. This year she wrapped her first feature film, the Nicholas McCarthy–directed thriller Home. “It was crazy,” Rivera says, laughing. “There were stunts and prosthetics involved, but there wasn’t much screaming. It’s not a jumpy film.” Instead, Home deals with demons and devilish behavior. “It’s more like, ‘That’s messed up.’”
Before she gets back in front of the camera—Glee starts filming season five in August—Naya’s busy recording her debut album, which she’s co-writing with Jaden Michaels, who’s worked with Carly Rae Jepsen and Cody Simpson.
As anyone who’s seen Naya perform Amy Winehouse’s “Valerie” on Glee will agree, the girl is no gimmick behind the mic. She credits her dad, a former Universal Music Publishing employee who’d sneak her into the studio to lay down demos when she was a teenager.
Naya describes her album as “feel-good music for hanging out,” comparing it to early Destiny’s Child. “If you were having a summer barbecue, this would be the perfect album to play.”
After the soaking and scrubbing and foot-filing, Traci asks what color Naya would like for her toes. She requests Big Apple Red, but then decides on Vodka Caviar instead. She needs something hot to fit tomorrow’s strip-poker themed shoot.
“I want to be like Betty White—90 years old and still killing it,” Naya says. “What keeps people like that alive?”
“She can’t retire,” Traci says. “She retires, she’ll die.”
Naya’s eyes light up at the thought. “Did we just predict my fate?”The next morning, Naya arrives in her white Range Rover at the West Hollywood photo studio, right on time for her cover shoot. After a couple of hours in hair and makeup, she tiptoes out of her dressing room looking like she hopped out of a 1960s Lucky Strike ad. Sipping on a glass of rosé through a pink straw, she waits for her cue. Her legs are thin and toned, like a Rodeo Drive mannequin. Her abs look like they’re straight out of a Pilates video. The crew around her whispers in awe.

Midway through the shoot, Big Sean shows up, dressed in an oversize camo jacket, dark jeans, and black adidas sneakers. As soon as the photographer calls for a break, Naya saunters over and engulfs him in a lingering hug. They don’t care who’s watching.
Naya first became aware of Sean through his music. “I knew songs like ‘Ass’ because it was huge, but I never knew what he looked like. If I ran into him, I wouldn’t have known who he was,” she says. “I was with my brother at his senior game in Tennessee and we were in his car going to get dinner. He played ‘Mula’ from Sean’s mixtape and I was like, ‘What is this song? Who is this?’ And he was like, ‘This is Big Sean.’ I said, ‘This is awesome, where do I get this?’” Before long she was hitting up Dat Piff for the first time. “It took me forever to get the music from my computer to my phone,” she recalls. She plays coy about how they actually hooked up though. “I ended up randomly meeting him. I told him that story the other day and we were still cracking up.”
Asked if Sean’s still as sensitive as the man who broke down in tears during his first major show in Detroit, Naya says: “He’s a sweetheart, but he’s not a little bitch.” She admits, though, that he “cried super hard” while watching Santana’s coming-out episode of Glee.
The pair has been together for a few months now. They make ample time for each other despite their hectic schedules. “With anything that you want, you’.

It'll work at it and make the time for it,” she says. Together, they can be spotted everywhere from the Hollywood red carpet to the Hawaiian coast.

“She’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me,” Sean says in almost a whisper, as she steps back in front of the camera. “She’s one of those people that you can connect to, and I think she’s going to be a superstar.”
He may be onto something. Whoever comes across Naya in person or on screen either wants to be her or be with her. She’s the kind of person you want to know more about, and she’ll gladly tell you. “I feel like I’m a pretty open person and I’m never purposely not going to share things because I don’t have anything to hide,” she says. “If I feel like shouting from the rooftops, then I’ll do it.” Here’s hoping she never loses her balance. "Regardless of the cause, Cory Monteith’s death is a tragic one. He was young and talented — a gifted drummer, an awkward-as-hell dancer, and a reliable nailer of power ballads. And he was Finn Hudson, Glee’s main testament to the life-changing power of music, arguably the show’s primary message.

The loss of Finn alters the show’s landscape permanently and irrevocably. There’s a part of me that thinks, “Is it too soon to consider what the show will look like now that he’s gone?” But as Vulture’s Glee recapper for the past two seasons, I think that considering the question is a respectful act; it speaks to his invaluable contribution. And Glee’s cast and creative team don’t have the luxury of declaring it too soon to move forward; filming on season five is currently scheduled to begin in a week or so, and the writers have been at work for a while now. While Ryan Murphy hasn’t said much publicly about what this year holds, he negotiated a two-season renewal for Glee last spring, and consensus is that he wouldn’t have been able to do so without some sort of master plan (or at the very least, a general sense) of how this next chunk of story plays out.

This isn’t a reshuffling of the deck, then. It’s 52 Pickup. Whenever Glee has been at a loss for story in the past, it’s circled back to three key relationships: Kurt and Blaine, Brittany and Santana, and Finn and Rachel. Monteith’s death and Heather Morris’s departure further destabilize a show already on shaky ground as it struggles to take on a more mature tone following the graduation of several of its main characters from high school. Deftly tackling the narrative challenge of Finn’s departure from the show seems an almost impossible task. If the season begins with Finn glibly written out (“Oh, he moved to L.A. with Mercedes!”), it will be criticized for insensitivity; if Finn’s storyline mirrors Monteith’s passing more closely, it will be criticized for exploitation.

Glee has always encouraged viewers to suspend disbelief when it comes to the fact that its main cast is a bunch of 20-something-year-old adults pretending to be teens. They’ve done this by emphasizing the characters rather than the actors (consider, for example, the fact that the entire cast did a world tour completely in character) and by near-obsessive control of the cast’s collective public image.

Sure, there have been drunk appearances at award shows and magazine spreads of questionable taste, but for a cast of late Millennials (Monteith was 31), heady on fame or something close to it for the first time, they come off as reasonably wholesome. Even Monteith’s own stint in rehab this spring was spun by the powers that be at Glee not as a scandal, but as a responsible choice by someone taking control of his own well-being (and rightly so). Glee’s promise of youth and escape is seen clearly in its return to Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” in multiple episodes, almost as an anthem. “You and I,” Glee promises, “We’ll be young forever.”

That image of squeaky-clean youth is shattered now, and that seems irreversible. Glee works as escapist television, and it almost always flounders when it tries to be something bigger. Season four’s misbegotten school shooting, prostate cancer, teen molestation, and eating disorder storylines – all either insensitively handled or dropped without explanation – are undeniable proof of that.

Monteith’s final performance on Glee was a reprise of “Don’t Stop Believin',” the same song that closed the pilot. It’s just a coincidence, although it’s hard not to lend it more significance than it perhaps deserves. L'unica bionda del telefilm che sta conoscendo una popolarità crescente - "over the top teen mystery" secondo l'influente "Entertainment Weekly" - sta facendo il giro del mondo per promuovere quello che si annuncia come il suo vero debutto al cinema dopo anni di comparsate tv (tra le altre, in "The OC", "Supernatural", "CSI: Miami"). In "Spring Breakers - Una vacanza da sballo", l'attrice californiana con un passato da modella nella prestigiosa Ford Agency recita al fianco di James Franco, Selena Gomez, Heather Morris e Vanessa Hudgens. Il tour promozionale del film ha fatto il botto non solo nelle conferenze stampa e alle prime nei cinema, da Londra a Berlino, dalla Francia al Giappone, ma anche su Twitter: gli auto-scatti delle tre protagoniste ai margini degli incontri stampa o in hotel, hanno spesso raggiunto i TopTweet dopo essere stati postati sui profili delle tre grazie.

When Fox announced this month that 100 percent of the net proceeds from Glee’s cover of 1984’s “Do They Know It’s Christmas” would go to The Band Aid Trust and support the same organization the track benefited more than 20 years ago, it was just the latest positive note in the show’s history. In its three years, Glee – and its growing cast – has supported a plethora of charities, most recently providing $1 million in donations to support music education through its Glee Give A Note campaign, which saw schools in Ohio, New York and Alabama each receive $50,000 in grand prize cash. Created by the network, Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy and the National Association of Music Education, the Give A Note campaign uses funds raised through the show’s DVD and Blu-ray sales to support struggling arts education programs across the country and, through its Web site, encourages fans of the series to do the same.
“Many of the actors on the show are the direct result of arts education programs, and speaking for myself, I would not be where I am today without these programs,” says Matthew Morrison, who plays New Directions coach Will Schuester.
In addition to the show’s efforts, several of its cast members have devoted time and energy to charities outside of the show – including Morrison, who’s involved with the Grammy Foundation, which works to promote the importance and impact of music and arts education and music preservation.
“The Grammy Foundation’s programs in schools across the country are so important because with budget cuts these days, arts programs are often the first ones to be axed,” he says. “These programs are critical for children’s education and development, and that’s one of the reasons I’m so passionate about this charity”.
Glee’s massive online popularity -- the show has more than 17 million Facebook fans and nearly 1.1 million Twitter followers, not to mention the hundreds of thousands the cast have – also has a ripple affect on the various charities the cast backs.
Jenna Ushkowitz (Tina Cohen-Chang) and Harry Shum Jr. (Mike Chang), back causes that strike a particular chord for them.
Ushkowitz, who grew up wanting to be a marine biologist, is a big supporter of Oceana, an international group working to protect the world’s oceans and says the show’s massive fan base helps to spread the word about the various organizations.
“I can thank social media – Twitter – and all our fans and followers for spreading the word and making people aware,” she says. “Our dedicated fans are our future so it’s incredibly important that they are the ones informing one another and doing anything to make a difference.”
Best known for his dancing, Shum is involved with three charities: Drea’s Dream, Invisible Children and Do Something, which help children with cancer and special needs through the power of dance; ending the use of child soldiers in Northern Uganda; and an online group looking to mobilize teens.
“We have some of the best fans, they’re so supportive of not only the show but charities we are involved with,” he says. “It means a lot to me because through social media I am able to raise awareness and introduce to people in a way they can be involved”.
For Mike O’Malley, who plays Burt Hummel -- aka the world’s most perfect father -- supporting his hometown plays a big role in his charitable considerations. He's donated large sums of his own money to a score of charities in his hometown of Nashua, N.H., including Marguerite’s Place and the Nashua Children’s Home, in addition to setting up two scholarships for his former theater professors at the University of New Hampshire, and a pair of foundations through Major League Baseball’s Boston Red Sox.
“I give to my hometown charities because I feel strongly that my town and the people there had a lot to do with who I am,” says the actor, who has donated more than $100,000 to the Adult Learning Center where his mother worked. “I want to give back to the place where I was raised even though I don’t get back there as much as I can”.
Mark Salling (Noah Puckerman) backs a pair of organizations: the Wildlife Care of Ventura County, a nonprofit volunteer group that rehabilitates native wildlife; and Child Hunger Ends Here, which turns UPC codes from ConAgra Foods products into meals for the more than 17 million kids who don’t get a proper meal every day.
“It’s the holiday season and a time for giving and it’s a really easy way for people to help out with a domestic issue like child hunger,” Salling says.
Cory Monteith (Finn Hudson) serves as an ambassador for Virgin Unite, a nonprofit that helps connect people with the right ideas for social change with others with greater resources in order to foster change.
A PETA spokeswoman, Lea Michele (Rachel Berry) is one of the many cast members active with gay-rights groups, as is Kevin McHale (Artie Abrams), who works with the Trevor Project’s Talk to Me campaign, which aims to prevent suicide among LGBT youth.
Max Adler, who plays Kurt’s reformed bully Dave Karofsky, is active with City Hearts’ Anti-Bullying initiative, most recently helping sixth graders in Los Angeles stage an anti-bullying play.
Jane Lynch has been a longtime supporter of the Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Center, recently earning the facility’s Rand Schrader Distinguished Achievement Award for her contributions.
And there are others. The cast -- which includes Chris Colfer (Kurt), Amber Riley (Mercedes), Naya Rivera (Santana), Heather Morris (Brittany), Dianna Agron (Quinn), Jayma Mays (Emma Pillsbury) and Darren Criss (Blaine) – are regulars at fundraisers, lending their time for projects including Education Through Music, the Alzheimer’s Association’s The Elephant Project and The Trevor Project, among countless others.
And while the show’s fandom has helped support the individual charities the cast holds dear, it’s the show’s arts education message that ultimately benefits the most.
“Glee has brought a renewed focus on music education in the schools and overall arts education,” Morrison says. “Glee clubs have literally sprouted up across the country, and as parents and communities have seen the joy it brings to students, this has encouraged support for these programs and helped prevent funding cuts”.

Leggendario il dietro le quinte di questo nuovo mirabolante servizio fotografico di Richards: quest'ultimo afferma di non aver avvisato la Barton della bistecca e di avergliela piazzata in scena a sorpresa (!!!), il costo della bisteccona (inteso come pezzo di carne, non della Barton) è stato di 65 dollari, ArtInfo ha citato il servizio con questa chiosa mitologica: "sense of subjugation, with its subject naked, lipsticked, and icily coiffed like a Duran Duran-era object of desire". Heather Morris di "Glee" è al centro di una polemica che sta montando ora dopo ora. La giovane attrice-ballerina è comparsa sulle pagine del "Daily Mail" davanti all'obbiettivo di Tyler Shields (definito dal magazine "uno dei giovani fotografi preferiti di Hollywood") con tanto di occhio nero, legata e in compagnia di un ferro da stiro (dal quale beve anche la condensa...!), per poi vendicarsi del fotografo stesso in un'immagine che dovrebbe rivelare il tono goliardico - si fa per dire - del reportage (il ferro da stiro finisce nelle parti intime del fotografo aguzzino). Il servizio ha subito attirato le ire delle associazioni contro le violenze domestiche: Rita Smith, a capo del National Coalition Against Domestic Violence di Denver si è scagliata contro l'iniziativa: "non so se si rendono contono che ci sono molte donne e bambini vittime di abusi reali...". Shields si è difeso: "non abbiamo voluto in alcun modo promuovere la violenza domestica, volevamo stravolgere l'immagine di Barbie, non è stato utilizzato in alcun modo photoshop, è semplicemente Heather...Io sono stato legato, lei è stata legata, era solo un gioco. E pensare che lei ha pure appoggiato il ferro da stiro caldo sul viso del mio assistente...!". Non vorremmo essere nei suoi (spiegazzati) panni...

Nonostante il film di "Buffy" faccia discutere dopo la decisione della Warner di lasciare a casa il suo padre putativo Joss Whedon, i rumors delle ultime ore vogliono la bionda Heather Morris di "Glee" destinata ad intepretare la protagonista ammazza-vampiri sul grande schermo. Ventitre anni, esperta di danza e ginnastica (non per niente in "Glee" le hanno affidato la parte della cheerleader Brittany), Morris ha confermato poco fa ad "Access Hollywood" di essere stata "chiamata": "mi hanno presa in considerazione, alla sola notizia ho quasi rischiato di farmi la pipì addosso dall'eccitazione".

Uno spin-off nell'aria. Le voci di un possibile spin-off di "Glee" non sono ancora confermate, ma ormai si rincorrono da settimane tra gli addetti ai lavori. Gli indizi e le possibilità sarebbero 2: vista l'entrata in scena, da protagoniste, dei personaggi di Santana (Naya Rivera) e Brittany (Heather Morris), la declinazione di un possibile spin-off vedrebbe o la coppia di cheerleaders "staccarsi" dalla serie-madre per avere vita autonoma, oppure la trasposizione di uno dei protagonisti storici e le due donzelle messe a "riempimento". Ryan Murphy, al momento, non conferma e non smentisce, ma ammette un'altra notizia girata nel retropalco: il contatto con l'agente di Britney Spears, Adam Leber, per una puntata stile-Madonna. Quest'ultima del resto, oltre che aver trovato il ringraziamento della stessa Ciccone - che ha visto l'episodio al fianco dell'entusiasta figlia 13enne Lourdes - ha rilanciato in classifica l'album di "Celebration". Ma non solo: Murphy starebbe pensando a puntate-tributo riguardanti i Led Zeppelin, Billy Joel e, addirittura, Courtney Love. Nel frattempo i concerti in giro per l'America di "Glee", diretti dallo stesso Murphy, sono una manna dal cielo e Fox ha deciso di investirci maggiormente, addirittura puntando a un nome che piace a tutti: Lady Gaga.
