On worrying about her post-baby body: “Haven’t we all seen those pictures of a sexy new mom in a bikini after one month? I will not be that person. I’ve always gone my own course and never been someone who had the need to be super skinny. I like a healthy look. I don’t buy into that skinny-is-better mentality. I just eat healthy and work out and don’t worry about my weight too much. Actresses aren’t models, and most of them never wanted to be.”
On women in TV: “It’s a good time for women on TV. We can be funny in our own way…and funny doesn’t mean just one thing. Funny isn’t just one-liners. It’s big personalities and individualism.”
On wanting to be asked more than “what are you wearing?”: “I’m all for people asking actresses more intelligent questions. Just because you’re wearing a nice dress doesn’t mean you don’t have any ideas. It’s a shame to reduce smart, talented women to clothes models. But you can be a feminist and femmy. I don’t see how those things contradict each other.”

GOSSIP - Essere telefilmiche non è più il Maxim del sexy! E' finita l'era della supremazia delle attrici seriali nella "Top 100" delle più attraenti del pianeta (solo Zooey Deschanel nelle prime 10: 'annamo bene!). Totalmente ignorata Naya Rivera (ma c'è la Michele!)
Qualche anno fa, quando Jessica Alba e Eva Longoria erano ancora tra noi (telefilmici), rispettivamente in "Dark Angel" e "Desperate Housewives", le attrici seriali guidavano la truppa in poppa delle 100 donne più  affascinanti del pianeta, lista stilata maniacalmente ogni anno da "Maxim". Nella nuova classifica, attesa come e più del Mondiale dagli smanettoni di tutti e cinque i continenti, per dire, nella Top Ten delle più sexy compare solo un'attrice telefilmica, tra l'altro una vera e propria sorpresa tra le tante bellezze in lizza: Zooey Deschanel di "New Girl"! Costei occupa il 6° posto, battendo la già citata (ormai ex telefilmica) Jessica Alba (all'8°) o la futura protagonista seriale (ancorchè top-model/cantante/partygirl) Cara Delevingne (solo 10°!). L'ex "desperate" Eva Longoria - ora produttrice seriale - sfila alla 13° posizione - seguita dalla nata-coi-telefilm Olivia Wilde al 14°. Laura Vandervoort ("Smallville", "V", "Bitten") è al 17°, solo 20esima Kaley Cuoco di "TBBT" (!!!), Hayden Panettiere ("Nashville") al 26°, Sophia Bush ("OTH", "Chicago PD") è 30esima e supera Lea Michele di "Glee", 31° (da rilevare l'assenza totale della sua collega-rivale di serie Naya Rivera!). Le mai dome Alyssa Milano e Jennifer Love Hewitt si rincorrono rispettivamente da "milf" al 34° e 35° posto. Lauren Cohan di "TWD" è solo 41°, Emilia Clarke si accontenta del 49° posto (si dovrà spogliare di più in "GOT" per entrare tre le prime 40?), Stana Katic di "Castle" si deve accontentare della 50esima piazza, seguita da Emily VanCamp di "Revenge" (51°), Jordana Brewster di "Dallas" (52°), Nina Dobrev di "TVD" (53°) e Sofia Vergara di "Modern Family" (solo 54°! la sorpresa negativa più eclatante, tra i nomi telefilmici in declassamento...). Morena Baccarin di "Homeland" è staccata al 57° posto, Summer Glau naviga al 63° precedendo di un posto Melissa Rauch di "TBBT" (una delle poche sorprese new-entry). La tanto celebrata Kerry Washington di "Scandal" è "solo" 65esima. L'iper-sexy anche quando respira Sarah Shahi ("Person of Interest") non va oltre il 67° piazzamento. Allison Willliams di "Girls" meritava di più del 77° posto, Anna Paquin di "True Blood" scivola al 78°, Alexandra Daddario è al 80° nonostante "True Detective". Che sia una classifica un pò così lo si capisce arrivando all'88° posto, dove campeggia A.J. Cook di "Criminal Minds": chiunque consideri l'attrice tra le 100 donne più sexy del pianeta dovrebbe finire massacrato da uno dei serial-killer al centro del telefilm che la vede protagonista. La "gostrippata" Taylor Momsen è nelle retrovie (91°) nonostante il nude-look imperante da cantante. Chiudono in bellezza Lili Simmons di "Banshee" al 97° posto - è stata preferita alla collega di set Ivana Milicevic - e Caity Lotz di "Arrow" (99°).

As Zooey Deschanel winds down a hectic 2011 that included a successful sitcom launch, scattered film appearances and a Christmas album as one-half of She & Him, the singer/actress tells Billboard.com that she is already in the preliminary stages of putting together the folk-pop duo's next full-length.
"I've been writing a lot," says Deschanel, "so hopefully we'll be in the studio pretty soon." Instead of diving into the proper follow-up to 2010's "Volume Two" this year, Deschanel and guitarist/producer M. Ward took a detour and decided to issue "A Very She & Him Christmas," a 12-track holiday covers album released in October on Merge Records. Since its release, the album has sold 128,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

"We just do what we want, really," says Deschanel, who tracked "A Very She & Him Christmas" over a six-day span with Ward. "There's no grand plan for our career, or something. The wonderful thing is that we're on an amazing indie label that's super artist-friendly, and gives us the room to do our thing. This is just something we've been wanting to do for a long time, and actually we wanted to get one out last year, but it was too hard to get together. So we ended up getting in the studio in April and got it done."
