“Mr. Robot” star Rami Malek is attached to play Freddie Mercury in long-development biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody” from GK Films with Bryan Singer in talks to direct. New Regency and Fox are coming aboard to co-produce the film with Graham King producing as well.

“The Theory Of Everything” scribe Anthony McCarten penned the script.

Singer confirmed the news on Instagram with a photo of 
the group confirming his involvement as well as Malek’s.  King has been
trying to get the project off the ground for sometime
having originally set it up at Sony with Sacha Baron Cohen
at one point set to star. When Cohen dropped out, King began
shopping the project elsewhere while looking for a new director
and front-man to star in the pic.
Jim Beach is also producing with Denis O’Sullivan exec producing.
Original Queen bandmembers Brian May and Roger Taylor
will serve as music producers.
Malek, 35, recently won the best actor Emmy for USA’s
hit cyber series “Mr. Robot”.
King, who won an Oscar for “The Departed”, has Allied bowing on Nov. 23.

Just as Bill Adama refused to give up on humanity, even after countless Cylon attacks and supply outages and political disputes, Hollywood is not giving up on the notion of a Battlestar Galactica movie, no matter how many false starts they’ve had in the past. The latest team to attempt to try and maneuver this big old spaceship to the big screen will be Michael De Luca and Scott Stuber, who are producing for Universal. 
THR reported on the latest iteration of the Battlestar Galactica movie. Bluegrass Films’ Dylan Clark will also produce. The studio, naturally, is hoping that the project will kickstart a “massive event franchise.” No writers, directors, or stars are on board, and no release date has been penciled in — this project is still in the very early stages.
In Battlestar Galactica, humanity has spread out to multiple planets across the galaxy known as the Twelve Colonies, and has long been engaged in war with a cybernetic race known as the Cylons. At the start of the series, the Cylons manage to pull off a massive attack on the Twelve Colonies, wiping out most of the population. The Battlestar Galactica is all that remains of the humans’ military fleet. The survivors then set out in search of a fabled colony called Earth.
Battlestar Galactica first debuted on ABC in 1978. The series only lasted one season — or two seasons, if you also count Galactica 1980, a reworking of the original concept — but its impact has lingered for much, much longer. Several attempts to resurrect the franchise followed, and in 2003 Syfy (then known as Sci-Fi Channel) finally succeeded with a miniseries reboot.
The mini was popular enough to launch a full-fledged TV series, which aired for four seasons between 2004 and 2009. The new Battlestar won strong praise, particularly for the strong parallels it drew to the post-9/11 situation in the U.S. and the Middle East. It spawned two prequel spinoffs of its own: Caprica, which aired for one season in 2010, Blood & Chrome, which was eventually released as a web series.
The Battlestar Galactica franchise has never released a feature film, but it’s not for lack of effort. In 2009, as the reimagined TV series was approaching its end, Universal began making plans for a movie. Bryan Singer signed on to direct, and John Orloff was hired to script. But that version fell apart, so in 2014 the studio tried to get a new version going with screenwriter Jack Paglen. That hasn’t gone anywhere, either, so now they’re trying again.
The appeal of a Battlestar Galactica movie for the studio is obvious. The original series was a cult hit, and the reboot was a critically acclaimed drama. It’s set in a distant corner of the universe full of countless histories, characters, and planets to explore. The franchise possibilities are basically endless. But as all those failed attempts show, they’ll need to make sure to play their cards just right if they want to get there.

(ANSA) - Berlino, 11 luglio - Tutto e' pronto a Berlino per le riprese di 'Valkyrie', il film sulla fallita congiura del 20 luglio 1944 contro Adolf Hitler, con Tom Cruise protagonista. Cruise ha ancora una settimana per visitare i luoghi dove l'eroe anti-nazista Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg visse e pianifico' l'attentato: le riprese per ''Valkyrie'' inizieranno il 19 luglio e proseguiranno per 15 settimane negli studi di Babelsberg (quartiere di Potsdam, sobborgo di Berlino) e nella foresta di Koenigs-Wusterhausen, a sud della capitale tedesca, dove verra' ricostruita la 'Tana del Lupo' (Wolfsschanze), come era chiamato il quartiere generale di Hitler. Il film, finanziato con 4,8 milioni di euro anche dallo Stato tedesco, con una decisione che ha posto fine alle polemiche sull'appartenenza di Cruise a Scientology, costera' 80 milioni di dollari e sara' diretto da Bryan Singer (già dietro la cinepresa di`Superman Returns', nel 2006, ma anche produttore del cult tv medico "Dr.House"). Raccontera' la storia della fallita congiura per uccidere Hitler e far finire la seconda guerra mondiale. ''La Germania ha pochissimi eroi, uno di essi e' Stauffenberg, dovremmo essere contenti se Hollywood ha deciso di ricordarlo'' scrive oggi il quotidiano tedesco `Die Welt', per il quale ''e' strano che il governo non abbia autorizzato le riprese anche nel Bendlerblock (quartiere generale della Wehrmacht durante la guerra, a Berlino, dove Stauffenberg lavorava e dove fu messo a morte, ndr)''. La moglie di Stauffenberg sara' impersonata dall'olandese Carice van Houten; il britannico Kenneth Branagh, conosciuto soprattutto per aver portato Shakespeare al cinema, interpretera' Henning von Tresckow, generale dell'esercito ai tempi di Hitler (Wermacht) che partecipo' alla cospirazione.

Ne "Il diavolo veste Prada" Stanley Tucci era l'indimenticabile fashion editor che dettava stili e griffe nel giornale diretto da Meryl Streep. Ora l'attore dalla carriera rilanciata come uno Sputnik è stato scelto nientemeno che per contrastare il boom di "Dr.House" sulla Fox. Nella serie della CBS "3 Lbs", anch'essa in onda il martedì, Tucci veste il camice del brillante neurochirurgo Doug Hanson, considerato uno dei migliori nel suo campo. Non manca la giovane promessa alla quale far da mentore, il Dr. Jonathan Seger (interpretato da Mark Feuerstein) e un cineasta come Barry Levinson alla regia della puntata-pilota: in "Dr.House" era sceso in campo, anche da produttore, Bryan Singer. Uno a uno, bisturi al centro.
