Taraji, on Cookie’s appeal: “So after however many years I’ve been in this business, I finally have Hollywood’s attention.”
Lee Daniels, on the possibility of an Empire spinoff: “It’s coming…without question.”
Lee, on Terrence Howard and his troubles with the law: “That poor boy [Terrence] ain’t done nothing different than Marlon Brando or Sean Penn, and all of a sudden he’s some f—in’ demon. That’s a sign of the time, of race, of where we are right now in America.”

Here’s what the 44-year-old Empire star had to share with the mag:
On co-star Terrence Howard‘s legal issues: “Let’s pop the trunk to your life and see what’s dysfunctional and what’s bad…. At the end of the day, we’re all human and we got flaws and we got shit.”
On working her way into the industry by doing friends’ hair and nails: “I come from a family of hard workers….Oh, yeah, I knew how to hustle and make money. We used to do wet sets…I bought a hooded dryer, and I had my box of rollers…I could have gone to jail; I had no license whatsoever. But it was just my friends. They were like, ‘Girl, hook me up.’”
On not sleeping with co-stars: “I always wanted to be known for my work. Not who I dated. Not who I slept with…I have a gift, and my gift is acting. I started in the business at 26 with a kid, so I was smart enough to know reality from fantasy. I didn’t want to blur the lines. This is a job that I have to do. I cannot get caught up in it. And if I sleep with these guys, why would they want to work with me again? The conquest is up.”

Terrence Howard owes his ex-wife $508,000 and counting ... so she claims, and she's gunning for a payday. Michelle Ghent claims Terrence has been hiding assets and grossly undervaluing what he makes a month to avoid his spousal support obligations.
TMZ broke the story ... Terrence is required to pay Michelle $5,800 a month in spousal support, but if he makes more than $62,500 a quarter, she gets 21% of the excess. According to her docs, Terrence made $125,000 an episode in Season 1 and he's sure to get a huge raise.
Michelle claims Terrence has not only failed to pay the 21%, but she says he's way behind in the $5,800 monthly obligation ... to the tune of more than $100k.
Also according to Michelle's docs, Terrence is using his first ex-wife's business to divert his earnings, making it appear he earns very little. In fact, Terrence claimed as recently as November all he was getting in the way of income was just shy of $6k a month ... money that was paid by the ex-wife's business.
"Empire" started shooting in September, so that's when the bucks started rolling in.
But all good things come to an end, and according to the divorce, Michelle's spousal support ends next year.

Take that, "Drip Drop" haters: Empire officially has the No. 1 album in the country! After days of being neck-and-neck with Madonna, the show's season-one soundtrack beat out her latest album, Rebel Heart, to debut on top of the Billboard "200" chart, selling just under 10,000 more units than the pop icon, at 130,000. Madonna's new album will debut at No. 2. According to Billboard, Empire is the first TV soundtrack to debut at No. 1 since Fox's other megahit musical Glee did it back in 2010. Guess it's time to start rallying for a Madonna cameo on season two. (She's already cast Terrence Howard in her new music video, so, hey, why not?!)

Terrence chatted about working with Taraji on the show: “We’re like father and daughter, mother and son, brother and sister,” he said. “We’ve never been lovers. When I was doing Hustle & Flow, I was like, ‘I know I’m playing this character right if all my female co-leads want to sleep with me.’ Taraji was the only one that didn’t want to.” Meanwhile, Empire‘s ratings keep on growing as the show approaches the season finale in a few weeks. Empire rose to 13.75 million viewers in last night’s episode, which makes it the most-watched show of the evening, THR reports.
