It’s been a longtime TV industry tradition for the cast of successful series to renegotiate their contracts and get salary bumps after the first two seasons. The practice has been employed by the broadcast networks for decades, with NBC’s This Is Us as a recent example, and also has been adopted by the streaming platforms, illustrated by the recent salary bumps after Season 2 for the actors of Netflix’s Stranger Things and 13 Reasons Why. Add Amazon’s breakout dramedy The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel to the list. Originally picked up with a two-season order, the period series from Amy Sherman-Palladino was renewed for a third season in May, months ahead of its November premiere. Since its launch, Mrs. Maisel has been an awards juggernaut, winning a slew of  top awards, including Emmys and Golden Globes. At tonight’s SAG Awards, where the show had another sweep with statuettes for Emmy and Golden Globe winner Rachel Brosnahan, co-star Tony Shalhoub and the cast in the comedy ensemble category, Shalhoub referenced the renegotiations. It was the first time since 30 Rock in 2008 that one series won all three comedy categories. “I want to thank everyone in Amazon, Jen Salke, and especially James Sterling in legal affairs and not just because I’m in the middle of renegotiation,” Shalhoub quipped in the acceptance speech for his third SAG Award in the actor in a comedy series category, first for Mrs. Maisel (He previously won twice for Monk.) Shalhoub went on to “thank my incredible cast and crew.”Salke is the head of Amazon Studios, while Sterling is Senior Business Affairs Executive. According to sources, the renegotiations are ongoing with no major issues, and the deals, which are said to include sizable salary increases for the main actors, are expected to close to pave the way for Season 3. In addition to Brosnahan and Shalhoub, the core cast of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel includes Emmy winner Alex Borstein, Michael Zegen, Kevin Pollak and Marin Hinkle.

Anche in questo caso, al fianco di due nomi cari ai fans dei telefilm: Jeffrey Dean Morgan (il mitico Denny di cui s’innamora tragicamente Izzy in “Grey’s Anatomy”) e Tony Shalhoub di “Monk”. (ANSA) - Washington, 27 ago - La serie di spionaggio '24' ha dominato gli Emmy Awards, gli Oscar della Tv, vincendo il premio per il miglior dramma televisivo mentre il suo protagonista Kiefer Sutherland si e' imposto come miglior attore. Miglior attrice drammatica e' stata designata Mariska Hargitay ('Law & Order, Special Victims Unit'). In campo comico l'Emmy per la miglior serie e' andato a 'The Office', mentre i premi per le interpretazioni sono stati assegnati a Tony Shalhoub (Monk) e Julia Louis-Dreyfus ('The New Adventures of Old Christine'). La serata e' stata un trionfo anche per il dramma storico 'Elizabeth I' che ha dominato la categoria delle mini-serie ricevendo l'Emmy per il miglior programma e per i migliori attori: Helen Mirren e Jeremy Irons. La serata e' stata presentata dal comico Conan O'Brien.

Nella sezione migliore serie comica, "The Office" (Nbc) ha avuto la meglio su "Ti presento i miei... "(Fox), "Curb Your Enthusiasm" (Hbo), "Scrubs" (Nbc) e "Due uomini e mezzo" (Cbs) Nella sezione migliore serie drammatica "24" ha battuto "Greys Anatomy" (Abc), "Dr House - Medical Division" (Fox), "I Soprano" (Hbo) e "West Wing" Nbc). Nella sezione migliore attore drammatico Kiefer Sutherland ha vinto per l'interpretazione dell'agente Jack Bauer, regalando cosi' la seconda statuetta alla serie "24". Sutherland l'ha spuntata sull'amico Martin Sheen ("The West Wing", Nbc), Christopher Meloni ("Law & Order. Nella sezione migliore attrice drammatica, altra vittoria a sorpresa: Mariska Hargitay, eroina di "Law & Order. Unita' speciale"(Nbc), ha avuto la meglio sulle favoritissime Allison Janney ("The West Wing", Nbc) e Kyra Sedgwick ("The Closer", Tnt). Nella sezione migliore attrice serie comica, Julia Louis-Dreyfus si e' tolta i panni di co-protagonista ("Seinfeld") e ha conquistato il suo primo Emmy, dopo nove tentativi falliti, nella nuova serie della Cbs "The New Adventures of Old Christine". La Louis-Dreyfus l'ha spuntata sulla veterana e favorita Debra Messing ("Will & Grace", Nbc) e su Stockard Channing ("Out of Practice", Cbs), Jane Kacmarek ("Malcom", Fox), Lisa Kudrow ("The Comeback", Hbo).
