NEWS - Western Girl!

DJANGO arriverà su Sky in Italia, Regno Unito, Irlanda, Austria e Germania e sui canali CANAL+ in Francia, Benelux e Africa.

Remember when Steven Soderbergh retired from filmmaking? Neither do I… because it never happened! Seriously, this guy works more in a year than some filmmakers work in a decade. He can’t help himself. He’s just wired that way. And today we learned that the great Soderbergh, the industry’s other Steven, has signed a three-year deal to continue making films and television shows — not just for HBO, but its sister streamer, HBO Max. First up is the previously announced feature Let Them All Talk Oscar winners Meryl Streep and Dianne Wiest, as well as Oscar nominees Candice Bergen and Lucas Hedges, as well as Crazy Rich Asians star Gemma Chan. Streep plays a celebrated author who takes a journey with some old friends to have some fun and heal old wounds, and the film will launch on HBO Max later this year. “This arrangement grew out of talks Michael Sugar and I were having with Sarah Aubrey during the negotiations for Let Them All Talk, and there were four things tractor-beaming me toward this deal: One, I have a history with both HBO and Warner Bros.; two, my definition of a good product, a good process, and a good working culture is shared by the WarnerMedia family; three, the wide range of potential outlets aligns with my range of interests, and four: I get to witness and participate in the building of something new at a very large scale. Oh, and there is a financial aspect, so that’s probably five,” Soderbergh said in a statement. “Steven is a groundbreaking filmmaker who not only tells unique, irresistible stories, but is also a master of so many genres,” said Sarah Aubrey, head of original content for HBO Max. “In many ways, he is the anti-algorithm — constantly surprising, never predictable — and his career is living proof that one gifted filmmaker can impact our culture again and again. I can’t wait for the projects that we’re working on together to premiere on HBO Max.” “From Behind the Candelabra, to The Knick and Mosaic, we know first-hand that Steven Soderbergh’s creative genius knows no bounds,” said HBO president Casey Bloys. “An indefatigable innovator, we couldn’t be more excited to continue our relationship with Steven and provide a home for his future projects.” Soderbergh made his two most recent films, High Flying Bird and The Laundromat, for Netflix, and I’ve heard the streamer may also wind up with his next project, the 1950s crime drama Kill Switch starring Don Cheadle, Sebastian Stan and Josh Brolin. L'EDICOLA DI LOU - Stralci, cover e commenti sui telefilm dai media italiani e stranieri

News tratta da "The Hollywood Reporter"
Harrison Ford is headed to TV for the first time in more than 25 years. The Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Blade Runner star is attached to a scripted adaptation of The Staircase from Annapurna TV. The potential series is a retelling of the 2004 true-crime docuseries about the murder of Kathleen Peterson and the prime suspect, her husband, novelist Michael Peterson. Ford will also be an executive producer on the project, which Annapurna is shopping to networks and streaming services. Annapurna and Ford's reps declined to comment. The docuseries, directed by Jean-Xavier de Lestrade, followed the case after Michael was indicted in Kathleen's 2001 death. He claimed his wife fell down a staircase in her home, but police and prosecutors suspected he bludgeoned her and staged the scene to look like an accident. The Staircase originally aired on Sundance in the U.S. Lestrade updated the series with a two-hour sequel in 2013 and revisited the case again in 2018 with three new episodes. Netflix released all 13 episodes as one series in June 2018. Antonio Campos (The Sinner, Afterschool) will write and executive produce the adaptation with Ford. The actor's last appearance on a scripted series came in 1993, when he played the adult version of the title character on The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. Ford made a number of TV appearances early in his career on shows including The Virginian, Mod Squad and Gunsmoke. His recent credits include Blade Runner 2049 and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and he stars in an adaptation of The Call of the Wild, which is set for release in February. Ford is repped by UTA and Ziffren Brittenham.

The idea for a Sin City TV show has been kicking around Hollywood since 2013, but it looks like it’s finally going to happen. Frank Miller, who created the graphic novels on which the two hyper-stylized noir films were based, has signed a deal with Legendary Television to adapt the franchise into a TV show, and Robert Rodriguez – who co-directed the two Sin City movies alongside Miller – is in negotiations to come on board. And from the sound of it, this may not be the only Sin City series that’s in our future. Deadline brought word of the deal between Miller and Legendary, saying “the deal on the table is for Legendary to guarantee a first season of the show, contingent on them setting it up with a network or streaming platform. The deal with Miller also calls for a hard R animated series for a Sin City prequel based on Miller’s graphic novels.” The wording in their piece is slightly unclear, but it sounds like there are two separate projects here: a live-action Sin City show which will presumably repeat the visual aesthetic established in the two movies, and then a hard R animated show in addition to that. If the deal goes through with Rodriguez, he and Miller will be executive producers on the show(s?) along with Legendary Television, while Stephen L’Heureux, a producer of Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, will join as a producer and Silenn Thomas, who heads Miller’s production company, will also produce.  If you’re surprised this hasn’t happened already, it’s not for a lack of trying. Back in 2013, The Weinstein Company was working on a show that would reunite Miller and Rodriguez, but that version remained in development hell. Four years later, Glen Mazzara (The Walking Dead) and director Len Wiseman (Live Free or Die Hard) were attached to a reboot that would have introduced new characters and storylines. That version never materialized, either. But Sin City‘s anthology format seems much better suited for television than the big screen, where the inventive green screen visual effects from the original 2005 film failed to remain impressive to audiences nine years later in 2014’s Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. It’s clear that Miller and Rodriguez know how to translate that eye-popping style from the comic to the screen, so maybe the TV format, where each story in this violent, dirty, neo-noir world can breathe a bit more, will be the right medium for this property.

PICCOLO GRANDE SCHERMO - Vendetta è fatta! "The Equalizer" (aka "Un giustiziere a New York") (ri)diventa una serie tv dopo i film con Denzel Washington firmata da Queen Latifah

News tratta da Slashfilm.com
The Equalizer, which started its life as a TV series and then became a Denzel Washington movie series, is about to become a TV series again. And Queen Latifah is going to star. Like the original series (and the movies), the story focuses on a mysterious figure who uses their specific set of skills to help those who have no one left to turn to. Deadline says Queen Latifah will executive produce and star in an Equalizer TV series reboot, with CBS giving the project a pilot production commitment. The series comes from creators Andrew Marlowe & Terri Miller, who will also serve as showrunners. Queen Latifah will play ” an enigmatic figure who uses her extensive skills to help those with nowhere else to turn.” A pilot production commitment means the network has committed to producing the pilot (as the name obviously implies), but that they can also back out at the last minute and pay a penalty. It’s not as ironclad as a full pilot order, in other words. The Equalizer began its life as CBS TV series that launched in 1985 and ran until 1989. Edward Woodward played Robert McCall “a retired intelligence agent with a mysterious past, who uses the skills from his former career to exact justice on behalf of innocent people who are trapped in dangerous circumstances.” In 2014, the concept found new life as a movie, with Denzel Washington playing the new Robert McCall, who goes up against the Russian mafia. It was a big enough hit to spawn a sequel, The Equalizer 2, where Washington’s McCall seeks revenge for the death of a friend. This new series will ignore the Washington films, which were a product of Sony, and instead serve as a reboot of the original series, from Universal Television. Universal has been trying to launch an Equalizer TV reboot for at least four years, but have been unsuccessful up until now. While this idea might throw a few people off who think this is a TV adaptation of the movies, there’s probably enough wiggle room here to create something with its own personality. While the Denzel Washington movies did well at the box office they’re not exactly heralded as untouchable classics. Heck, I don’t even think the first movie is that good – although I’ll admit to enjoying the hyper-violent sequel, which is almost like a slasher movie with Denzel Washington in Jason Voorhees mode.

L'EDICOLA DI LOU - Stralci, cover e commenti sui telefilm dai media italiani e stranieri

(Mariarosa Mancuso)

PICCOLO GRANDE SCHERMO - "Wonder Woman" (ri)diventa una serie! Netflix ingaggia a peso d'oro Patty Jenkins, regista dell'ultima versione cinematografica, per sviluppare il progetto

News tratta da Slashfilm.com
Patty Jenkins is joining Netflix’s high-profile crowd of creators. The director of Wonder Woman and the upcoming Wonder Woman 1984 has signed a multi-year overall deal with Netflix to produce new TV series for the streaming service. It will be her latest foray into television after directing this year’s TNT limited series I Am The Night. Variety broke the news that Jenkins has signed a multi-year overall TV deal with Netflix that is valued at around $10 million over three years. Under the Patty Jenkins Netflix deal, the director-writer-producer will produce new TV series for the streaming service. “We’re thrilled to welcome Patty Jenkins to Netflix,” said Channing Dungey, vice president of original series at Netflix. “Her trailblazing work has pushed boundaries and she confidently tells stories that leave an unforgettable mark. We look forward to fostering her many ideas and helping them come to life,”. “I’m so excited to embark on a great journey of making the new world of television with a company and group of people I admire as much as Ted, Cindy, Channing, Peter and the team at Netflix,” Jenkins added. “I look forward to digging in to some great work together soon.”
It’s unclear what kind of TV series Jenkins will be producing, and whether they will be original works or adaptations. But Jenkins signing on with the streaming giant is just another marker of her Hollywood success, which had already been cemented when she took the title of highest-paid female director in the industry. Netflix has been fast accumulating high-profile talent in incredibly expensive deals that often exceed seven figures. I’m a little surprised that Jenkins is limiting herself to producing TV for the service, but perhaps she is reserving feature filmmaking for the big screen. Though Jenkins is best known for her acclaimed feature directing and writing debut Monster, she has frequently worked in TV before, directing episodes of Arrested Development, Entourage, and The Killing, and most recently executive producing and directing I Am the Night, which reunited her with Wonder Woman star Chris Pine.

PICCOLO GRANDE SCHERMO - Un secondo film di "Downton Abbey"? "Porte aperte" (Michelle Dockery dixit)
Michelle Dockery is on the cover of InStyle magazine’s September 2019 subscribers issue cover. Here’s what the 37-year-old actress had to share with the mag…
On returning to her Downton accent: “I’d been so used to playing Americans [accents] that when we filmed Downton Abbey [the upcoming movie, out on September 20], I think [my character] Lady Mary started off being a little too posh.”
On returning to Downton: “Three years, but it felt like no time had passed at all. [I realized] I’d taken some things for granted. Like driving up to that house [the setting for Downton Abbey], it honestly took my breath away. But I think the three-year gap was perfect, because we’d all been off doing our own thing, and it was enough time to really, really miss it.”
On Downton doing more than one movie:“I mean, we’ll see. As Elizabeth McGovern, who plays my mother, just said, ‘All doors are left open.’”

Ma no! Se li godono in posti esotici sconosciuti all'Interpol. (Mariarosa Mancuso)
