On Michelle Obama telling her she watches Insecure: “I was like, ‘You really watch it?’ She was like, ‘Yes. Sasha and Malia put me on to it.’…It bums me out that I will never have that feeling again of the First Family f*cking with us so hard and getting us. If Melania said that to me, I would be like, ‘Well, I guess it’s canceled. We’re not making this show. It’s not ours anymore.’”

On the backlash to her upcoming show, Him or Her, about the dating life of a bisexual black male comedian: “[Being queer] is the experience of lots of black men, and it’s like, ‘Why would you try to prevent that story from being told? Who are you to tell him that his story isn’t valid.” 

On being herself: “All I know is who I am. At the end of the day, all I know is my intentions, and no matter what you take out of context, no matter what pictures you post, I know that I am aligned with. I know what my truth is.”

"Sono tre brave ragazze perché nonostante rapinino un supermercato, il che non sarebbe comunque legale, avrebbero le loro giuste motivazioni, dunque se non assolverle almeno ce le prendiamo in simpatia. Good Girls, da alcuni giorni su Netflix, è la prima stagione di una nuova serie in otto episodi più un pilot, che riprende lo stereotipo della donna costretta a ribellarsi per il peso e l'ingiustizia della società. Un tema piuttosto battuto dalla tv americana, non a caso l'ideatrice Jenna Bans aveva lavorato alla sceneggiatura di Desperate Housewives. Beth (Christina Hendricks) è una bella quarantenne con quattro figli e un marito scemo, che oltre a tradirla con un'aspirante attrice di spot commerciali, ha sbagliato tutti gli investimenti e sta affogando in un mare di debiti. Sua sorella Ruby (Retta) combatte una strenua battaglia per l'affidamento della figlia, il cui tipo fisico è modellato su Shiloh, rampolla no gender di Brad Pitt - Angelina Jolie. Fa la commessa e ha un tatuaggio sul fondoschiena, ma i tatuaggi sono vivamente sconsigliati ai rapinatori. Annie (Mae Whitman) è una tonda signora di colore, sposa felice non fosse per la malattia della piccola figlia in attesa di un trapianto di rene. Non ci sono abbastanza soldi per operarla secondo il cinico sistema assistenziale americano. Se i denari non ci sono, vanno recuperati in ogni modo. La sit-com comica e sarcastica, che ironizza sul sesso e sulla famiglia, prende di mira i modelli consunti e falsi della famiglia felice, si sfoga contro il sistema maschilista arrivando persino a citare Thelma e Louise, trasformandosi, di episodio in episodio, in commedia nera con risvolti thriller. Un prodotto di genere neppure così male, anche se fortemente ancorato su quegli stereotipi americani così trash che noi europei stentiamo a capire fino in fondo. Good Girls strappa sorrisi e si fa seguire, ma c'è un ma: l'immagine della donna ne esce, se non devastata, almeno compromessa. Brave ragazze che per resistere sono costrette a inseguire il maschio nel territorio dove è padrone assoluto: la stupidità. E quando tre donne vogliono essere peggio dei colleghi uomini non c'è partita, vincono loro. Non un discorso degno di essere seguito, non uno scambio di battute che si elevi dalla più inutile medietà. Argomenti: le corna, la depilazione vaginale, la triste realtà della coppia, ex mariti bastardi e nulla più. Non un libro, un film, neppure una ricetta che ne riveli un qualche tratto distintivo particolare. Non ci saremmo aspettati personaggi con caratteri alla Gertrude Stein, Virginia Woolf, ci saremmo persino accontentati di una copia di Michelle Obama e invece nulla. Le tre Good Girls sono talmente vuote e superficiali da giustificarne gli abbandoni, a parte la Madre Coraggio che, per convenzione politicamene corretta, non può non essere nera. Cercasi modelli femminili migliori. Speriamo ne escano da qualche parte, nella mente di uno sceneggiatore illuminato e coraggioso". (Luca Beatrice)

Kerry, on diminishing the stigma of mental health: “I think it’s really important to take the stigma away from mental health…. My brain and my heart are really important to me. I don’t know why I wouldn’t seek help to have those things be as healthy as my teeth. I go to the dentist. So why wouldn’t I go to a shrink?”
Sarah Jessica, on the issues female veterans face: “I feel like there’s a laundry list of issues they face…. Being a working mother, serving, returning from Iraq or Afghanistan—I almost don’t know where to begin…. And I feel intimidated by their service; I feel ashamed that I haven’t served. So I almost feel like I’m patronizing by inquiring how to help. When you see a serviceman or -woman, you always—I always—say, ‘Thank you for your service.’ But you know that’s not enough…. What do we do? Every community has a community of veterans. Where do we begin?”
First Lady Obama, on the importance of asking for help: “I never try to come close to comparing my life to these women’s lives. But, if you think about it, when you [have] a spouse who travels or is away a lot, women do adapt…. The challenge is when the missing spouse comes back and they’re trying to reintegrate into a well-oiled machine…. How do you let yourself become vulnerable when you don’t know when that call will come, and they’ve got to [go away again]?… And many of these women are young. When I was going through this [when President Obama got into politics], I was in my thirties, I had my career, and I had family with me. I [try to] put myself in the place of some of these young women—maybe they’re in their twenties, they have their third kid, they’re not established in their careers, they’re miles away from their family—and imagine the stresses. So my advice is, ask for help. Keep asking. Because that’s the only way I survived. My women friends—how we get through is we reach out.”

President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama's oldest daughter Malia could be setting her sights on Hollywood. Malia Obama, who turns 16 on July 4, was spotted this past week working as a production assistant for a day in Los Angeles on the set of Halle Berry‘s upcoming sci-fi series “Extant,” an individual with knowledge of the production told TheWrap.
“She helped with computer shop alignments and the director also let her slate a take,” the insider said.

The insider also said Malia laughed with delight saying, “My first time. This is a big deal.”

CBS has not yet not responded to TheWrap's requests for comment. A spokesperson for the First Lady also has not responded. In the series — which hails from Steven Spielberg's Amblin Television and CBS Television Studios — Berry will play an astronaut who returns home from a year-long solo mission in space and tries to reconnect with her husband and son in their everyday life.  Her experiences in space and home lead to events that ultimately will change the course of human history.
In addition to the “Extant” role, Berry and her producing partner, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, have entered into a two-year, first look production deal with CBS Television Studios.

Malia attends the exclusive Sidwell Friends private school in Washington, DC, but classes let out earlier this month. She joined her parents on Friday in Rancho Mirage, where President Obama took in a round of golf, according to the Press Enterprise newspaper. The President was in Southern California to deliver the commencement address at the University of California Irvine on Saturday.
