More than five and a half years after it first went off the air, “Chuck” continues to amass a devoted following. And though the show received a two-hour finale at the end of its fifth season, many are still clamoring for a movie. Zachary Levi addressed his hopes for getting such a project off the ground in an Entertainment Weekly interview, saying he’d “love to do it” but is “the only person who’s affiliated with the show that’s been trying to make it happen on some level.” Levi similarly told IndieWire’s Turn It On podcast this summer that he’s repeatedly been on the record about wanting to produce a “Chuck” film, and that he’s certain that one will eventually be produced:

“All the time [it comes up]. I’ve told everybody, since the show ended. I just don’t think information gets disseminated nearly as much as we think it does. I’ve been on record 50,000 times, I’m not even exaggerating — it’s probably 50,000, if not, it’s 49,872 times — saying I have every desire and intention to make a ‘Chuck’ movie.

“I just have to wait on the right time for it. Guys, I’ve said my peace about this. I’m totally on board. It’s just got to be a matter of the right time. That’s it. And the right time is going to depend on where technology has gotten to, we’re finally there. A lot of shows are being rebooted, so that all helps. And getting a script. I don’t even have a script. I haven’t even been available. There’s all these things. And then I gotta get money and go to Warner Bros., which still owns the rights.

“You can’t just go to some wealthy person and go, ‘Gimme $10 million we’re going to make a Chuck movie!’ There are so many friggin’ cooks in the kitchen, and lawyers, and blobbity blah. But I do believe wholeheartedly that there will be a day, a day and the timing will be right and we’ll have a script and we’ll have the money and the schedules will work out and it will be so fun. I’d love to give the fans and us more chapters of ‘Chuck.'”

He added in the podcast that he’d love to a “Chuck” movie every other year. “It was a perfect, goofy American ‘Bond.’ If James Bond can keep fighting random bad guys every few years then of course Chuck can!”

That’s what he said this summer. Now, here’s his full, comprehensive answer to EW on the question posed on the occasion of the show’s 10-year anniversary:

“I’ve had meetings with various people. There’s just so many moving parts. The answer is I’d love to still make it happen, even if it’s 10 years down the line. Because of the world, it could still be plausible. It’s just difficult. Warner Bros. has the rights to it, I don’t have a script. And in order to get the rights, I need to probably get a script, but in order to get the script, I need to pay a writer, but if I’ve got to find the money then in order to get the money, I need to make sure I have the rights. It’s like a Catch-44. [Laughs] I went to the whole cast years ago and said, ‘If I ever get a movie together, would you do it?’ And everyone was like, ‘We’re totally in.’

“A lot of people have asked if we could do another season and there’s no way we could do another season. But I think that Chuck as a premise totally works to go do movies here and there. It’s a goofy American Bond. We had our baddies of the week, we can have baddies of the movie. You add a little bit more money, a little bit more time, maybe go shoot in some actual international destinations, you make a fun 90-minute movie, and release it online. I think we can do that, but there’s a lot of moving parts and I’m the only one who’s trying to get all the moving parts together. So, we’ll see.”

È la realtà aumentata del Trono di Spade: sullo schermo sette casati si combattono per il potere, nella vita i fan farebbero carte false per un dettaglio in più, anche quando abitano nella Casa Bianca. Di fronte alla snervante attesa per la sesta serie, Barack Obama fece sapere che avrebbe con piacere accelerato i tempi. Fu l'unica persona al mondo a ottenerla in anticipo. Quando la vita è scandita dai ritmi di riprese e ingaggi internazionali, il concetto di casa «diventa più fluido», ma bastano pochi talismani per creare un senso di stabilità. «Ho un orso polare di pietra, piccolino, che mi porto sempre dietro». Guardarlo, accarezzarlo è un toccasana in un mondo professionalmente frenetico.

La sua carriera è decollata senza eccessivi sforzi: quest' anno è diventato uno degli attori più pagati del piccolo schermo, con un cachet da 1,1 milioni di dollari ad episodio. Invece di fregarsi le mani soddisfatto, Harington sottolinea che anche questo può essere un problema: «Non voglio togliere nulla a me stesso, ho ottenuto le parti che ho ottenuto perché ho lavorato sodo, ma in questo mondo serve tanta fortuna e non ammetterlo sarebbe assurdo. Sono stato fortunato ad avere una parte in una pièce teatrale di grande successo (War Horse, al National Theatre) e fortunato con Trono di Spade. L'aspetto difficile è affrontare la paura che il successo non sia completamente meritato. Cerco di ricordare che mi sono impegnato, che non è stata solo la fortuna».

Il merito, aggiunge, è un concetto complicato: «Chi può dire cosa ci meritiamo davvero?». Bravo, bello, ricco e profondo? Ride. Sa prendersi in giro. I progetti non mancano. Nelle pause di Trono di Spade lo attendono una miniserie della Bbc sul tentativo di far saltare in aria la Camera dei Lord nel 1605, intitolata Gunpowder, e il film «Morte e vita di John F. Donavan», in cui interpreta il ruolo di una star gay falsamente accusata di pedofilia. In questo settembre è protagonista della campagna di The One for Men, il profumo maschile di Dolce e Gabbana, con un filmato ambientato in una piazza napoletana.

«Mi hanno fatto sorridere, evviva. Non mi capita spesso». Ha la battuta pronta. Si lascia stuzzicare. A parte il profumo, ha una routine di bellezza con la quale mantiene la pelle e la celebre chioma? «Quando sei un attore vendi la tua faccia. Sto attento, ma non attentissimo. E i capelli... chi poteva immaginare che sarebbero diventati così famosi?». Il concetto di mascolinità, spiega tornando serio, è cambiato: «Siamo fortunati, siamo uomini in un momento in cui agli uomini è permesso sperimentare. Nessuno ti prende per pazzo se ti metti un po' di matita sugli occhi».

Ciononostante, si guarda con difficoltà. Evita di vedere i suoi film più di una volta. «Per un attore è terribile rivedersi e soprattutto risentirsi. Ti attanagliano i dubbi. Sono un perfezionista, vedo subito le pecche. Credo sia normale. Anzi, direi che se sei un tipo che si guarda facilmente avresti bisogno di chiederti perché. Forse sei un po' narcisista».

Dal teatro, al cinema, alla televisione, Kit Harington si muove con facilità. «Se non faccio teatro mi manca, dopo tre mesi sul palcoscenico sono pronto per tornare davanti alla telecamera. Adesso che ho fatto tanta televisione mi manca l'intensità del teatro».

Un cerchio perfetto, nel quale ha cominciato ad apprezzare anche i periodi di vacanza. «Sto imparando a rilassarmi. Spero di non diventare troppo bravo a farlo». La madre professoressa universitaria, il padre organizzatore di eventi hanno avuto un duplice ruolo: all'inizio lo hanno incoraggiato, adesso lo riportano alla normalità. «La fama è un animale strano. Innesca una serie di cambiamenti quasi impercettibili nella tua vita, senza accorgetene arrivi a un punto sconcertante. Loro mi riportano alla normalità. Noi britannici siamo bravi a tenere i piedi per terra».

Forse, precisa, è anche per questo che ha deciso di stabilirsi a Londra. «Adesso la mia fama è al punto massimo, ma tra un po' tutto questo calerà». Professionalmente mira alto. Il traguardo è interpretare Enrico V al National. «Perché accontentarsi di sogni mediocri? Ho visto Adrian Lester in questo ruolo ed ho capito che è dove voglio arrivare anch' io». Trono di Spade gli mancherà: «È uno sceneggiato che ha occupato i miei vent' anni. Adesso ne ho trenta. Forse riuscirò a scrollarmi di dosso questa immagine, forse no. È possibile che questa sia la parte che dovevo fare e che non ci saranno ruoli paragonabili, ma non mi dispiace l' idea di diventare meno famoso, almeno per un po'».

Though Kate Walsh spent years playing a doctor on TV, her most urgent medical advice comes from her own experience. In an interview with Cosmopolitan, the former Private Practice star discussed how she was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2015, which was found to be benign and was removed with surgery. “It was over 5cm, like a small lemon in my head, causing quite a bit of damage,” Walsh said of the diagnosis. “The whole situation was so overwhelming, and I was just so relieved to know there was something wrong, that it wasn’t just my imagination and that my instincts were correct.” After taking nine months off to recover from the surgery, Walsh dove into a series of new projects, including 13 Reasons Why, Girls Trip, Felt, and the Off Broadway play If I Forget. She decided to share the news of her experience now, she told Cosmo, to encourage others to have annual checkups with their doctors — she’s also taking part in a campaign with other TV doctors centered on just that idea. The seventh season premiere of The Walking Dead was the most controversial episode of the series. It’s an episode so violent that a number of shocked viewers quit the show (at least temporarily) out of disgust. Creatively speaking, however, it was not the series’ lowest point. That would come six episodes later with “Swear,” the only seventh-season episode to receive a rotten score on Rotten Tomatoes. IMDb also rates “Swear” as the worst episode of the series’ entire run, and it’s not even close. Those who have forgotten about “Swear” can be forgiven. The entire episode focused on Tara and Heath, two characters viewers had not seen at the time of its airing in nine episodes — eight months in real time. It introduced the Oceanside community, and to date, it’s the last we’ve seen of Heath, who may or may not have died during “Swear.” What was so frustrating about “Swear,” however, is that it took the focus from fan favorites like Carol and Daryl and shifted the narrative away from the main storyline involving Rick and Negan. Instead, we had to spend an hour with two characters viewers cared little about, one of which many had forgotten even existed.
It wasn’t the first time, either, that the writers on The Walking Dead spent an entire episode on two of three characters in a huge ensemble drama. “The Cell” spent most of its time focused on Daryl, for instance, and because the season 7 episodes shifted between communities, we went long stretches of time last season without seeing Carol or Morgan or Jesus, among many others. Ezekiel was introduced in the second episode of the season, but we didn’t see him again after the midseason break in episode nine. Spending that much time away from characters can be frustrating for viewers, and by rotating storylines, it prevented the season from gaining much momentum until the back half of the seventh season.

Thankfully, that kind of storytelling is expected to end in season eight, according to showrunner Scott Gimple, speaking to TVLine.

Because of the narrative that we’re following,” Gimple continues, “the story this season is really spread out among all of the characters. And the story shifts quite a bit in single episodes between lots of different characters on a consistent basis, which is a little more unusual for the show.” 

Besides the All Out War and the non-stop action that entails, there are some other things to be excited about in season eight. We will see a lot more of Negan, but also potentially his death, depending upon how Scott Gimple approaches the source material. Negan’s full backstory may also be revealed in a standalone origins episode. We’ll find out how Pollyanna McIntosh’s Jadis — who is not from Kirkman’s original source material — plays into the All Out War, and who she will ultimately back (or if she’ll play free agent to the highest bidder). Given that the Saviors easily outnumber Rick’s crew in the upcoming war, Rick and co., will also have to resort to a kind of guerrilla warfare, which could mean a lot of mini-capers over the course of the season as the Alexandrians et. al marshal their wits to out-scheme the brute force of Negan’s Saviors. Perhaps what viewers are most looking forward to next season, however, will be an increase in screen time for two characters who quickly became fan favorites last season: Steven Ogg’s Simon, who plays Negan’s right-hand man, and Justin Cooper’s Jerry, who plays Ezekiel’s right-hand man. Ogg has been promoted to series regular, while Kirkman has promised we’ll see much more of Jerry in season eight. With a time jump, the quickly shifting storylines, the elevation of fan favorites, and the promise of “lots more killing, and lots more explosions,” all the ingredients exists now for a solid bounce-back season of The Walking Dead. Season eight premieres on October 22nd.

At last night’s Emmy Awards, the biggest red carpet question wasn’t “What are you wearing?,” but “Will there be a second season of Big Little Lies?” The HBO limited series took home eight total awards, including wins for Best Actress and Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie and Best Limited Series. The show’s success made a huge statement about what kind of shows viewers want, and the hardware Big Little Lies took home — plus the success of shows like The Handmaid’s Tale and Atlanta — provided executives with tangible proof that investing in diversity is worth it. While the status of Big Little Lies‘ second season has been iffy since the finale in early April, the series’ success last night undoubtedly pushed forward the momentum for another installment. Both before and after the ceremony, BLL actors and producers commented on talks for a second season, and it’s clear that some big things have changed. The largest indicator that BLL will return comes from director Jean-Marc Vallée‘s complete reversal on the topic. Back in April, the Emmy winning director was as clear as possible in an interview with Vulture about the limited series remaining, well, a limited series:

This is the perfect ending. There is no way; there’s no reason to make a season two. That was meant to be a one-time deal, and it’s finishing in a way where it’s for the audience to imagine what can happen. If we do a season two, we’ll break that beautiful thing and spoil it.

However, backstage after the show took home Best Limited Series honors, Vallée changed tact: “It’d be great to reunite the team and to do it… We’ll see.” It’s amazing what eight Emmy Awards can do. Also backstage was author Liane Moriarty, who has been tasked with writing continuing story lines for these characters by HBO Programming President Casey Bloys. When asked whether she’s committed to doing so, Moriarty replied, “I’m thinking about it. It’s a beautiful possibility. That’s all I’ll say.” The general consensus among producers and stars Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman is that they’re “thinking about it, talking about it, discussing it, but nothing definitive yet.” Yes, nothing is definitive, but if every actor is excited to continue pursuing these characters, the network has commissioned the original author to write additional story lines, and the director is on board with creating another season, it seems like all signs point to yes for Big Little Lies season two. All this is not to say that doing another season of BLL is a good thing (I definitely think it’s a no good, very bad idea, and so does Joe Reid). But from a money and awards perspective, it seems like a slam dunk. Our bet is that HBO will go where the money is, and assuming that they’re able to coordinate the very busy schedules of Reese, Nicole, Laura, and co., we’ll be seeing the lovely ladies of Monterey back on our screens in no time.

The cast of NBC’s This Is Us is on the cover of the latest issue of The Hollywood Reporter, out on newsstands now. Here’s what the show’s creator Dan Fogelman had to say:
On why This Is Us works for Trump’s America: “In a time when you cringe every time you open your internet browser or get a news alert on your phone, it’s refreshing for people to turn on a show where the message is inherently positive. The characters may be flawed, and sometimes deeply flawed, but they are inherently good.” 

On long-term plans for Kate’s weight loss journey: “Thus far, the plan we had for the character and what Chrissy’s been doing have been working in tandem, with a talk once a year of, like, ‘Hey, here’s what we’re thinking.’ So we have a general long-term plan that we’ve all talked about, and we will adjust the plan as needed. I mean, that’s life, right?” 

On his “doughier” original plans for Jack before casting Milo Ventimiglia – and that butt scene, which was meant to be funny: “I didn’t imagine that that was going to be a thing that would blow up the internet. I joke about it a lot, but really, my initial conception of that character was that different.”

NEWS - Chi fa da sè fa per Sky. Per la nuova stagione aumentano le auto-produzioni (quella di Ammaniti in primis), a contorno di molti ritorni e tra le novità spicca "The Deuce" con James Franco

Le grandi produzioni originali Sky sono partite ieri sera su Sky Atlantic, con Tin Star, la serie drama con Tim Roth – ospite all’Upfront di Sky a Milano - che veste i panni di un detective inglese. Dal 17 novembre arriva l’attesissimo terzo capitolo di Gomorra – La Serie, un successo mondiale, venduto in 190 Paesi, che ha portato alla ribalta internazionale la qualità della produzione italiana e attori emergenti, e ha rivoluzionato la serialità televisiva. Nel corso della stagione debutteranno anche Babylon Berlin, ambientata a Berlino negli anni ‘20, Britannia, le nuove storie de I Delitti del Barlume con le novità Stefano Fresi e Corrado Guzzanti nel cast. In primavera sarà poi la volta di altre due grandi produzioni originali italiane: Il Miracolo, con il debutto alla regia di Niccolò Ammaniti, e Sui Generi, la nuova serie di Maccio Capatonda. Al via i nuovi progetti: Zero Zero Zero tratta dal libro di Roberto Saviano e Django, la prima serie western targata Sky. Arriva anche Deep State, la prima produzione originale europea del gruppo Fox.

In totale saranno ben 108, tra cui i migliori titoli HBO e Showtime in esclusiva, le serie tv in prima visione su Sky Atlantic, i canali Fox e gli altri canali partner di Sky. Dopo il clamoroso successo de Il Trono di Spade, arrivano tra le altre le nuove stagioni di Westworld, Shannara, The Affair, Billions, Grey’s Anatomy, American Crime Story: The assassination of Gianni Versace con Penelope Cruz, The Walking Dead e Homeland. Debuttano quelli che promettono di essere i prossimi cult: da Marvel’s Inhumans su Fox a The Deuce con James Franco e Maggie Gyllenhaall su Sky Atlantic. Su National Geographic torna Genius, dedicato alla straordinaria vita di Pablo Picasso interpretato da Antonio Banderas, e arriva una storia di guerra con Long Road Home. 

Con oltre 100 serie sempre disponibili, Sky Box Sets è la library più ricca delle storie più amate. Da questa stagione è inclusa nell’abbonamento di tutti i clienti.

I mean, she’s on the cover of Vanity Fair. It would have been nice to write about her not just her boyfriend. I’m just saying. I mean, she’s an actor, she’s an activist, she’s a philanthropist. I mean, she does so much more,” Priyanka told ET. “It’s just a little sexist. Look, I’m a feminist and I love boys, okay… The only thing I’m saying is that there needs to be a certain sense of equality where a woman is not just a plus one, you know. NEWS - Si ricomincia per il Roth della cuffia! Da oggi al via la nuova stagione seriale dei network italiani: Sky Atlantic cala l'asso "Tin Star" con l'interprete di "Lie to me" e il due "di poppe" Christina Hendricks di "Mad Men"

In esclusiva per l’Italia, da stasera 12 settembre alle 21.15 arriva su Sky Atlantic HD, "Tin Star", la nuova produzione originale Sky prodotta da Kudos, i creatori di Broadchurch e Humans. La serie, un intenso e provocatorio crime drama in dieci episodi ambientato nelle Montagne Rocciose canadesi, è stata scritta da Rowan Joffé (28 settimane dopo, Before I go to sleep, Texas Rising) ed è interpretata dal vincitore del premio Bafta Tim Roth (La leggenda del pianista sull’oceano, The hateful eight, Lie to me) e da Christina Hendricks (The Neon Demon), vincitrice del Critics Choice Television Award per il suo ruolo in Mad Men che le è valso anche sei nomination all’Emmy Primetime Award. Al centro del racconto, una storia di vendetta che ridefinisce il concetto di rispetto della legge. Dopo aver iniziato una nuova vita con la sua adorata moglie e i suoi figli nella pace e nella tranquillità di Little Big Bear, una remota e amena località sulle Montagne Rocciose, il capo della polizia Jim Worth (Tim Roth) sente di aver finalmente trovato quello che stava cercando, lontano dai fantasmi a cui aveva a lungo provato a sfuggire nella sua vita precedente di agente sotto copertura a Londra. Tuttavia, l’agognata serenità non durerà a lungo. L’apertura di una raffineria da parte della compagnia petrolifera guidata dalla misteriosa Miss Bradshaw (Christina Hendricks), infatti, rischia di travolgere sotto un’ondata di droga, prostituzione e criminalità organizzata l’apparentemente idilliaca comunità rurale di Little Big Bear e gli stessi affetti di Jim, perché è in questo contesto che si consumerà l’omicidio di un membro della sua famiglia. La sua ossessiva ricerca della verità dietro questo misterioso assassinio sarà il fil rouge di una storia sull’amore, la corruzione, il dolore e la natura dirompente del desiderio di vendetta. Mentre inquietanti dettagli del suo passato iniziano a venire a galla, Jim intraprenderà una battaglia personale contro i suoi demoni in grado di distruggere anche la vita delle persone che ama di più. Nel cast, accanto ai due protagonisti, anche Genevieve O'Reilly che interpreta Angela, la moglie di Jim, Christopher Heyerdahl (The Twilight Saga, Gotham, Hell on wheels) e Kevin Hanchard (Rogue, The Expanse, Blue Mountain State).
