Jameela Jamil poses for the cover of Nylon‘s December 2018/January 2019 issue.
The 32-year-old The Good Place actress, who recently criticized celebs who get paid to endorse detox teas, spoke out against people who use Photoshop on their social media photos.
“When you’re Photoshopped you’re setting yourself up for a fall, because you can’t live up to a digitized image… Stop Photoshopping your images. I really think it’s so gross,” Jameela said.
“I think it’s a disgusting crime to Photoshop your images and put them out there in the world without announcing that’s what you’ve done,” Jameela said. “It’s a lie, you’re lying to your fans, and your followers, and people who look up to you. You’re an asshole. I really believe that. You’re an asshole. You’re allowing the insecurity that ruined your life to pour back out into other people. You are recycling that self-hatred. You are recycling that insecurity, and you should stop.”
After letting out a laugh, Jameela told the mag, “I know I’m really severe about that. But I didn’t eat as a teenager for three years because of people elongating their legs and thinning out their images… We have to rebel against this, we have to see flaws.”
